If u dont do this u will hurt ur vocal chords because u will be growling from the throat ( i dont know how exacly to explain but its some complex shit that one vocal teacher explained, and that teacher also teacher angela) The thing is u mustnt push ur throat, u must air from stomach( it sounds weird i know but once u learn it ull be safe) because then ur damaging ur chords

Well if you don't feel pain in your throat doesn't mean your not damaging your vocal chords. You should watch dvd called the zen of screaming. there are like 80% growlers which she trained and they're a lot better at it now. When i applied teachers tehnique i screamed for like an hour singing and it didn't hurt me. it was my second time to do it
