there are artists in there who where a big impact to there music genre

@dog1clear I know this is old, but I can provide an answer for you. You are under the assumption that all hip hop artists would be inducted. I don't think that is the case. Only pioneering ones like GMF and RDMC and maybe Public Enemy and Tupac. These artist have contributed to rock just as much as soul and blues artists have. Without them no Rage Against the Machine or Red Hot Chili Peppers.

@dog1clear continued... Pink Floyd probably wouldn't be in the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, but Aerosmith might. They helped make hip hop mainstream. Led Zeppelin might. Bonzo's drumming style is a big influence on hip hop production. U2 might. The Beatles might.

@dog1clear No disrespect taken. I agree with you, maybe they should change the name. I understand where you're coming from, but not everyone thinks that the Rock & Roll in the title means strictly rock & roll. I mean, Black Sabbath sounds nothing like Louis Jordan or Chuck Berry.

P.S. I'm not an old schooler, I'm only 21. I just can appreciate all good music from different genres/generations.

@camking88 gotcha, disecting the term rock and roll has become commonplace i think. when i was growing up there was no hip hop or rap and so you had rock,country,disco,blues...the basics. believe me disco was not popular with the rockers nor would it be wise to compare them. so thats just how i roll with it.  good for you, being open minded

sure, that'd be cool, how rock groups like Aerosmith, Rolling Stones etc are still playing even tho they're like 50+ yrs old, and plus they're playing instruments.. for Run DMC would be easier, but once again, they did a "comeback" with Down With The King soundin contemporary like ATCQ & Pete Rock, but once they'll be back they gotta tear shit up, either do nuthin' and remain the legends they are.. =)
