  • nice video i liked,.Hector, can you doing more acrodeons repair videos?thanks its helpful to me.

  • Thanks for the request. Don't really have any more accordion projects in the pipe line. Have a great week!

    Hector.

  • Thanks! I'm going to get me little mate into playing something cheap to start with to suit her tiny hands. I wasn't surprised to find the toy accordion was a bit off (for $50, what dyou expect?). Your vid got me started and I found another vid on tuning and sounding the reeds. Now it plays well, so yeah, we'll learn it together.

  • Awesome I always wanted to see the inside of a accordion

  • hey man what kind of wax it.....

  • Beeswax. Candlewax doesnt work. More common to have beeswax and resin/rosin mixed together.

  • I'm so glad to find this video. My sister-in-law gave me a toy accordion years ago as a joke and it became part of my act - even play it on our CD. I've been looking for a replacement but can't find one that I like because the quality control is so loose with these Chinese ones. I've got a leaky bellows. Seeing yours open has inspired me to fix my own and/or buy a few toy ones and pick out the best reeds.

  • This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much, you're a genius!

  • I'm pleased you came across my video. Glad you can benefit from my experiment that actually worked. Let me know how you go! Thanks. Hec.

  • An Erika in C/G was my first melodeon. And although I agree that you are a really skilled mechanic, it breaks my heart to see that Hohner's organs being transplanted into the toy accordion.

  • nice work I do this quite often.. sad for the hohner tho.. I would have giving ye a reed set for it ;).. haha but hey.. good job

    have fun

  • Cool. Thanks for your comment. Would love a reed set for my other little toy accordion that is blue. What key you have? Thank you. Hector.

  • @HectorAwol I need to check that and I must verify first that they are perfectly in tune as tuning is... and stays a hard thing to do. I will let you know if I found it in the workshop and if it is still ok.

    greetings

    arno

  • Thanks. Keep in touch!

  • hahahhahahha good job, look at your face, like that of a child with new toy :)

  • Absolutely!

  • Wow... no wonder you get such a great sound from that little box! Shame about the Hohner although as you say you can reverse the reed swap. Surprised you didn't change the bass end as well.

  • I wish I could have swapped the bass but the cavity was way to small in the left hand of the little box so I was unable to insert the big bass reeds. Thanks for viewing.

  • This was very interesting, Hector!!!!

  • Yeah it sure was an interesting endeavour! Cheers from Australia, my friend!

  • You're awesome! I am amazed...Fran

  • All I do is try. Am pleased you have enjoyed the vid! What's been news with you, Fran?

  • Is there no end to your skills??? This was great!

How long did you have that toy before it went off key?

    It sounds terrific now.

  • I more than likely jumped the gun before anything happened with the tuning of the reeds. They were just a tad out! And yes there is an end to my skills... I'm shocking at sports haha!
