There's an old story that shortly after the original Woodstock concert, an interviewer asked Jimi Hendrix how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world.
Jimi's answer was "I dunno -- go ask Rory Gallagher."
i've always heard the name..but just started to listen to the music a couple months ago...i'm convinced if i would have heard him early on my life would have been different...for the better

@theseethered The only song I had ever heard was country mile and maybe moon child. Amazing. When Hendrix was asked how it felt to be the worlds greatest player he said go ask Rory.
SOO glad to see somebody knows of Tommy Bolin, the guy is underappreciated just as much as Rory. Bolins solo albums before his demise were amazing & rank in some of my fav guitar-cds.

@TheTvrulesthenation Tommy had a nice Jazz Fusion background also. He had co-written "Stratus" with Billy Cobham. I like alot of guitar legends that don't read music. They are so amazing&creative.

@pb999999999 fender have released replicas. A limited highly rare first issue run of a few hundred i think and a more mainstream run i'm fairly sure they did too but I could be wrong. Essentially if you are determined and wealthy enough it's feasible to come in possession of a replica. I know Music Maker guitar shop in Dublin have one of the first issue replicas (complete with certificate proof) that isn't for sale unless you make them an offer they can't refuse.
Ah, Rory. Brings out the 13% of the Irish in me. I'm predominately Italian, but man i luv these guys: Lennon, McCartney, Rory et al. And the Irish women are the best on the planet!
I have really got to get into Gallagher. I've heard a few of his tunes, but going on a Joe Bonamassa binge has really gotten me into Gallagher's style. Dude was a legend.
One of the meanest forgotten intros to a rock based song. Sounds lethal on the album when its distorted more.
PS Hendrix never said such a quote of Rory Gallagher he never knew of him, the legend is attributed to Phil Keaggy (acoustic finger styled guitarist) but is still false.
Snopes.com the famous urban myth site has the whole story if you want to look it up. Gallagher is still fucking lethal though
Yes, indeed, Rory was a blues/rock guitar hero!
Saw them probably 5 times from 1773 to 1976. F**king ROCKIN' shows. Yes!!
