  • Yes, indeed, Rory was a blues/rock guitar hero!

Saw them probably 5 times from 1773 to 1976. F**king ROCKIN' shows. Yes!!

  • @MrDomino5 He has just become my new guitar hero and inspiration. So many riffs to learn from him man! I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't really discovered him until a few days ago though I had heard his name here and there over the years. You are a lucky man to have seen him live which sadly I am too late to ever have to opportunity to do.

  • Rory was one of the best in his style, nobody like him to this day, attitude and feel - All these new players are a joke compare to Rory

  • Ok, just what the hell did he do with his pick hand pinky at around 2:31 anyway??

That guy made some crrrrazy sounds with a guitar man!

  • My hero!

  • Rory was and always will be one of the very best guitarist's ever, he was such a gracious guy and never had an ill word said about him. Rory you are loved and missed by so many..you were too young to leave us my friend. Godbless. Thanks Jude for posting this link at your site. Love you too my friend. (Emporess of Zepland :) Pussz!.........Ed

  • brill....sadly missed.. great..

  • brill...

  • 4:09 is sick.

  • Rory brilliant as always. I recognize the bassist but who are the other guys? Whole band sounds great. Terrific drummer.

  • @bornwithoutwarning

    Bass-Gerry McAvoy

    Keyboards-Lou Martin

    Drums-Rod de'Ath

    Best years of Rory

  • i just realised rorys strat looks just like srvs without the writing those old 60,s strats are the best

  • One word: timeless.

  • Not just the best Irish, one of the all time greats!

  • He is not the best, at least not here because it is monotonous.

  • @cameltooth1 rory was never monotonous.ever

  • Hendrix was just being respectful to someone else i would guess. I don't suppose there really is a best anything.

  • RoryOn! forever people

  • wonderfully rocky bluesy ... :)

  • I think John Mayer designed his custom strat to be simuler to this one

  • Talented guy and handsome to boot!

  • The 21 turds who don't like this better get an appointment at the doctors to get their hearing problem sorted out

  • I'm a straight man, but he isn't half looking well in this video

  • I see the Jimi Hendix story on every Rory vid stop it we all know

  • There's an old story that shortly after the original Woodstock concert, an interviewer asked Jimi Hendrix how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world.

Jimi's answer was "I dunno -- go ask Rory Gallagher."

    True story.

  • Absolutely LOVE RORY GALLAGHER

  • il y a un morceau de santana qui est similaire à celui là dommage qu'ils aient coupé avant la fin.

  • Pure genius!

  • This is how you know why the Strat is the best guitar in the world

  • @marcosviv are you saying that he would sound worse on a gibsun??

  • @jacker257 No, I'm saying that THIS IS HOW YOU KNOW THE STRAT IS THE BEST

  • i've always heard the name..but just started to listen to the music a couple months ago...i'm convinced if i would have heard him early on my life would have been different...for the better

  • He's having sex with the guitar!!!!!!!

  • It's hard enough to play slide, let alone on a Strat's neck.

Of course Rory makes it butter.

  • @TheGibbySG true :) he explains on the irish tour dvd that he liked the tele better for slide playing due to it's higher action. but that's just a random fact xD glad you appreciate this music as well :)

  • wow...he used a real coricidin bottle as a slide. LOL awesome

  • dammit - I think I'm hooked.

  • Before there was ever a Stevie Ray Vaughn, there was Rory Gallagher !!!

  • im only 14 and i am addicted to rorys music. i just wish more people would apreciate him. hes without a doubt the best guitarist ever.

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is what music should sound like!!!

  • I was just turned on to

I was just turned on to mr. gallagher bout 2 weeks ago,i'm 42 and never got a chance to here this great guitar god.thank god it happened b4 i died .rip

  • @theseethered The only song I had ever heard was country mile and maybe moon child. Amazing. When Hendrix was asked how it felt to be the worlds greatest player he said go ask Rory.

  • Well, rebelpintcork what about the Kelly family, hmm...?

  • Rory is like the Jimi Hendrix of the blues.

  • @santanaincubus jimi hendrix is the jimi hendrix of the blues

  • Wow! I see why Deep Purple had ask this guy to replace Blackmore, before Tommy Bolin.

  • @magirecords2004 I saw him open for DP and Fleetwood Mac in 1973. He stole the show.

  • @kurtizzyflush Wow! That was before Glen Hughes had joined DP.

  • magirecords2004

SOO glad to see somebody knows of Tommy Bolin, the guy is underappreciated just as much as Rory. Bolins solo albums before his demise were amazing & rank in some of my fav guitar-cds.

This video will be the next to hit 1 million just watch, Rory is a monster on this track

  • @TheTvrulesthenation Tommy had a nice Jazz Fusion background also. He had co-written "Stratus" with Billy Cobham. I like alot of guitar legends that don't read music. They are so amazing&creative.

  • magirecords2004

Agreed, i just wish Bolin had lived on to at least a half decent age he was mad young. I hear off die hard DP fans that he was off his face in concerts & played terribly cause of it, shame cause DP are a big band yet Bolin is extremely obscure

  • is this the song that is at the irish tour 74 album?

  • Comment removed

  • @MatheusTurner really??? i dony trust in you...

  • You want to know who is best at their trade, listen to musicians, NOT the pop charts. This guy was over past because??!! I have known about him since I was a little kid loving Deep Purple and Zepplin. He didn't get ANY recognition close to his talent. NO he wasn't the best ever. Not close. Neither was Stevie Ray or many others who were touted as such. HOWEVER, his sound was great. His ability DEFINITELY impressive. Musicians don't just judge on sound, but chops, taste etc. Even IF we don't lik

  • amazing strat sound

  • @ellioteaston93 This sound is amazing cause of Rory ^^

  • i am a fan since the 1978 Rockpalast Gig, One of the greatest Players of all time. Lucky enough - i saw him 9 times live

    Greetings

    Js Blues

  • i went to rorys grave last christmas in st olivers in cork was tricky to find but worth it

  • what a fucking band.

    boogie chillin'!!

  • I'd say Lou (keyboardist) never had to clean his keyboard/organ...His mop of hair is constantly sweeping it down :P

  • looks like jimmy page.....plays like Johnny winters and Jimi Hendrix bastard ...and sings with more south-land swagger then the Allmans......can't believe it

  • u2 are great but Rory is the greatest Irish musician of all time ... no one will ever touch his talent

  • Comment removed

  • @rebelprintcork in rock yes, but you should look at john doherty fiddle muthafuckers the shit respect the irish

  • @kcpalooza as I said he is the greatest musician of all time to ever come out of ireland (no matter what genre his talent will never be matched !) and i dont think johnny doherty would appreciate the whole mutha fucker vibe the only mother he knows is his mother Mary Mc Connell have some respect for real Irish talent !

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I had a time machine........

  • @rebelprintcork U2 sucks...

  • @rebelprintcork Hey don't forget Think Lizzy but u r right Rory is the King

  • @rebelprintcork i'd put thin lizzy between rory (1st place) and u2...

  • @rebelprintcork U2 are shite, millions of light years from Rory..

  • @MrNollum........... so we are agreed then , Rory is the greatest Irish musician of all time ! ( I just happen to also like U2 and Thin Lizzy etc ..... other great Irish musicians !

  • @rebelprintcork Scratch the Irish part.

  • @rebelprintcork

quite right but,.. what´s about thin lizzy? ;)

  • that drummer came first in the "how far can you play your hi-hat stand away from the kit" competition

  • @zealberg That's because he's left handed

  • I just woke up and it's still too early but this song is forcing my hand to wanna grab a beer.....

  • What an intro? THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep... he's the real deal for sure. His range was wider - or at least as good as any other player ... ever. AND...listen to his band mates. They're each excellent.

  • To those that are just discovering Rory, it is mostly because he did not try nor care if he had stateside commercial success. He was a rare individual who done what he done for the pure love of his craft. He had tremendous success and toured relentlessly in Europe where he had tremendous success. From a commercial perspective he is hands down the most underated and undercovered blues/rocker in the history of music!

  • The thing that sets Gallagher apart from many others is that he so completely mastered conventional , slide, and acoustical guitar work seemlessly like no other before or since.

  • i love this song as much as rory loved flannel shirts

  • No one writes good rock and roll like this any more

  • wow i just discovered rory al i can say is WOW how the hell am i just finding him now my dad me in passing about a month ago hey look up this guy rory galllager since u like john mayol you'll like him and god damn this guy is amazing

  • Awww, he aint that good of a guitar player and he has no charisma whatsoever...HAHA, just kidding! This guy is just amazing! Pretty kickass band, too! Love it!

  • I grew up on my Dad's music which was 60's and early 70's and I thought I knew everything that came out of that era. How the hell did I miss this guy. He was amazing.

  • First intro to Rory Galligher - Immediate impression is Jimmi Page on a strat.

  • @rsaathoff way better than Jimmy IMO

  • Mama Fender stratocaster...

  • Wow ! I'm a new fan.. Kill Jamz !!

  • how the hell can anyone dislike this?

  • Rory Rules!

  • legend

  • Turned many a friend and foe alike onto Rory Gallagher just from this one song.

Finger blistering, ball breaking notes in this tune..I miss the man, thanks for the privilege of still having his music. Johnny Winter was the one who turned me onto him, thank you Johnny.Val Th'a Hammer x. pride

  • how can u dislike that- my gran probably would but i cud excuse her-he was the greatest

  • :O..awesome

  • this will shake the cobwebs out of your brain !!!!

  • rory is one of the finest irish music makers ever.....

  • If you want to know who dislikes the Blues vids on U Tube it's obviously people who have NO idea what music is all about. They are ignorant as to the roots of music, have never had an appreciation for Gospel or the Blues, or other traditional forms of music. They are obviously Justin Beiber fans.

  • Great stuff folks. This 70's vibe is something else.

  • I can not understand a thing...but Eric Clapton, SRV and others guitarists have never jammed with him?

  • rory is strong ... people who voted no, they have no fucking idea ... must be some shred guitar, frustrated in life, or any lover of pop music, which believes that life is all rosy ... rory up ... a greeting from Spain

  • Thanx UPLOADERS YOU KEEP THE LEGEND ALIVE !! ENCORE , ENCORE !!

  • unreal

  • one of the best ever RIP

  • @v00d00spirit JB, lost generation-Hah, now that's funny! But millions tuned in to watch a kid do Lady Gaga, so there's no accouting for taste. Or the lack of it.

  • trop trop bien

  • Man just Fantastic Rory. Hats off to the provider. Great, just great Rory. Thanks, man seriously.

  • Rory's the best, thats all there is to it! No one can tell me different.

  • How good is that BAND that allowed Rory to be so Great

All hail that bass player - he is THE MAN

  • Sorry Lads, but the Story with Jimmy Hendrix ist NOT true!- rectified by Rory`s Brother.

  • epic

  • I'm glad that he didn't release a single record. I like his policy and I'm proud to be his great fun.

  • I could,nt possibly add anything to the last post , only to say thanks pionwarrior and all you say is true .I grew up with Rory He was a genious but probably never knew or thought of himself in that way . while clapton, page ,hendrix were all experimenting?? Rory was treading the boards .He was a hard working musician who liked a wee pint of guiness now and again ,I love the man to bits .god bless ye Rory

  • The best unknown or un-recognized guitarist in the world!

  • RIP Master

  • RIP Master

  • Hendrix, Clapton, Page may all be more famous, but Rory has that edge. You mention, 'Rory Gallagher," in a music store or while your looking at an instrument and people immediately whip their heads around. I have never met someone who disliked his music--ever. His music was gritty and his delivery was with pure sweat. Rory was the working man's guitarist, the guy who goes to a bar to see the local band and have a beer. That is his legacy!

  • rory is the best...

  • Definitely one on my "best guitarists" lists

  • The man could kickass when he wanted!!!!!!

  • Any one else shit their pants

  • Rock'n Roll!!!!!

  • If we don't get some new jam like this soon i'll turn into a"boring old fart' and continue to wear the fucking grooves out on my old R.G. albums.RIP King Rory.

  • my friends all think im strange and old fashioned for listening to music thats before my time well sticks and stones girls cos i get more joy out of this than listening to jedward haha

  • @odingr Rory played the Isle of Wight festival in June 1970 which Hendrix also played, Hendrix didn't die til the following September. Rory probably was the greatest guitarist to grace the planet.

  • my pleasure...

  • Literally looks exactly like jimmy page

  • @adamskizz Looks nothing like Jimmy Page. Jimmy page has looked wahed out for years

  • @bryansseals no i meant Jimmy Page from back in the day. Not the chinaman he is today

  • @adamskizz Looks nothing like Jimmy Page. Jimmy page has looked washed out for years

  • OLE Pat Travers aint 2 BAD BUT HELL YEA BRO SOOOOOO MANY BEFORE their TIME MUSTA BEE 1 HELL OF A TIME

  • id kill my own mother for that stratocaster

  • @pb999999999 i would even kill myself for play it for only one minute

  • @pb999999999

Sadly, I think that if I played that Strat, I'D still sound like ME- and if Rory played MY strat, he'd still sound like HIM! :)

  • @pb999999999 fender have released replicas. A limited highly rare first issue run of a few hundred i think and a more mainstream run i'm fairly sure they did too but I could be wrong. Essentially if you are determined and wealthy enough it's feasible to come in possession of a replica. I know Music Maker guitar shop in Dublin have one of the first issue replicas (complete with certificate proof) that isn't for sale unless you make them an offer they can't refuse.

  • @pb999999999 Hahaahahaahaaa !!!!

  • Thanks for the video, it would be good to know the date and place of the show.

  • ..rory......we"ll pay whatever you want . just show up....respectfully,your fans

  • Ah, Rory. Brings out the 13% of the Irish in me. I'm predominately Italian, but man i luv these guys: Lennon, McCartney, Rory et al. And the Irish women are the best on the planet!

  • dont cut it off at the end...aaahgggggggh!!

  • Good christ I do so envy you Arnys Shack.

  • Funkster me 2 joe bonamassa binging but i have lots a favourites and run with the hot ones and never forget the grt ones

  • I have really got to get into Gallagher. I've heard a few of his tunes, but going on a Joe Bonamassa binge has really gotten me into Gallagher's style. Dude was a legend.

  • Rory was awesome very talented this kinda sounds like voodoo child

  • 16 dislikes?................probably think "the edge" is special.

  • @notwaiting "The Edge" is kinda special. But he's also a huge Rory Gallagher fan.

  • Sound is alright at the beginning..shame it gets muffled later:(

  • Rory man...What a legend. You were the best. Such an influence to everyone. God bless you

  • One of the meanest forgotten intros to a rock based song. Sounds lethal on the album when its distorted more.

PS Hendrix never said such a quote of Rory Gallagher he never knew of him, the legend is attributed to Phil Keaggy (acoustic finger styled guitarist) but is still false.

Snopes.com the famous urban myth site has the whole story if you want to look it up. Gallagher is still fucking lethal though
