I am a Canadian Inffantry Officer from the Royal 22e Régiment. I've had the pleasure of serving alongside many marine officers like Fick. I have to agree with Fick that the USMC is the finest institution that you Americans have. Its also among the finest military insitutions in the world. Canadian infantry often looks to the marines as a good model for our own training.

Great man. If you're even thinking about going to OCS, read "One Bullet Away". Not only for the fact that it's a great story, but all of Mr. Fick's insights are right there for you to reference back to whether you choose the path of a Marine or whatever you choose to do. Every candidate at my OSO (60+) has read this book AT LEAST once.
