Coach K> Bob Knight. In 31 years at Duke hes got 4 national championships, 11 final four apperances, 12 ACC regular season titles, 13 ACC Championships, and a record of 827-225 for a .786 win percentage. Bob Knight in 43 years as a coach, had 3 national championships, 1 NIT championship and 11 Big 10 championships and 5 final fours. and a record of 902-371 for a win percentage of .708. Idk about you but Coach K's a better coach. Just look at the numbers.
doesnt necessarily mean the coaches had any effect, i mean he hit just one more, have him shoot at least 50 for each set, cuz out of ten, it really couldve been the other way around, and it really depends on what type of person you are, some would take the yelling badly and just quit, some as motivation, and its all about your personality here...
this is retarded. you can't make this kind of decision based on a difference of one free throw. someone's not gonna shoot 80/90% every single time they shoot from the line. it's an average. he took 2 sets of 10 shots. not nearly enough to make this sort of broad generalization.
@eat3waffels LOL that also makes no sense cuz thats comparing different players. how do you not get that this test proves nothing? think about it retard
@eat3waffels hahahahaha you still dont get it. those are the statistics of 2 different teams under 2 different coaches. do i have to spell it out for you? theyre not testing the same player under 2 different coaches for an extended period of time. therefore making it an awful test. congratulations. you just proved youre an idiot. lol
wow! interesting! but in my opinion, i think the more free throws you make or attempt, the warmer and more confident u get at making free throws, however, the aggressive coach is right, this dudes mechanics are so horrible! i can bet he was most likely not a good free throw shooter, u have to take in to affect, that this isn't a live game! and there arn't thousands of fans being loud and annoying!
On a side note, I am in a graduate program for exercise physiology. If we created a test that was this horrible and flawed we would be criticized by all of our peers and professors. Manipulation of statistics and a lack of realistic physiological situation makes this test complete bullshit. I just like that they gave a shout out to Madec!
. Everyone that knows anything about sports understands that there has to be a certain level of arousal and excitement in order to play your best. Having a heart rate of 62 while shooting free throws but it is not realistic. Being able to calm yourself before a shot is your own problem you must have an internal locus of control.
Coach Madec is an amazing crazy bad ass! He was my Olympic Lifting Coach in college and cares more about his players than you would expect. When he calls the player average it makes you cringe. Since knowing Madec the word average makes me cringe and rings in the back of my head.
bad test. and bad subject. the guy hit 7 out of 10... should have gotten NBA player who hits more constantly. even im %80 from last season and im just high school.
my old football coach yelled at me, i was scared that if i didnt did my job well he was gonna yell at me so i always gave 100% we got a new coach now, he doesnt yell, my performance is going down compared with what i was then and i am today
Its good experience to train your focus during actual games when your adrenaline's going and when the fans won't be so encouraging, even at home (or maybe especially at home if you **** up).
Well this test is somewhat true. Our senior team had both types of coaches, but both of them become the 'aggressor' when the experienced players make a bad move. In my opinion I prefer the aggressive coach, they are more demanding and as an experienced athlete I know that they are expecting 110% from me and other experienced players.
@tomojonoben i like how it said decided by 3 points or less. okay? well how many games have they won period? and of those games played how many were 3 points or less?
You could argue that the proband gets warmed up during the first coaching trial or that the order of the trials has an effect.
This experiment is highly unscientific. To find a reliable difference you'd need two separated groups (with probably at least 20 people in them) and the same conditions for these people exept the coaching stile.
As for the "real" comparison, that's just like comparing two teams from different states, and this decides which country has the alltime better players...
Ya it maybe right but if that second coach is teaching me that way . i will kick his ass someday and give him aint no shit on it . His coaching method is way too fierce and strict, first coach is way too sacartic . T.T
This is not good science. Athletes have been socialized into accepting negative feedback as normal and necessary. For some of the reasons they mention such as arousal (tension) athletes under stress under perform. There is so much evidence of this..I am disappointed a sport science show seems to support a poor conclusion based on a poor experiment...(what about the warm up of shooting the first 10 for example..is just one of many problems.
Having coached both boys and girls, I'd say that girls need MUCH more positive encouragement than boys. Boys often don't improve nearly as quickly with the soft approach. Girls quickly tune out as the stress level rises, and they usually take the harsh treatment personally.
Eddies your uncle? The guy was my best friend all through school and up to our 30's. I'm glad to see he's doing great. Haven't talked to him in a couple years but I google his name every so often just to see how he's doing. Yeah he is a great guy and probably the best person I've ever met. They kind of guy who will move into a new town not knowing a soul and then in a year has 100 new people calling him thier best friend. Tough guy too. He's one hard nosed SOB! Tell your uncle Marco C says hi.
I have had a coach that never gave good feedack and didnt want to be your friend and we only lost 5 out of 36 games =D I prefer negative feedback and strict coaches...
couldnt be better said a great player/athelete should be able to adapt his/her game around the coaches and teams needs, simply because the coach only wants to make you a better player and person.
Even though that is kind o finteresting, they cant just conclude that that is the answer to the question...they have to experiment over and over again for that one
The mean coach is right though... His elbow was way out... Awful form

The first Free throw exercise you would need to do it 10 times with each coach and workout an average to be more effective
and the coaches stats are bs when its two different teams with players more or less talented wtf does that have to do with the shooting rate etc?
This show is pretty dodgy
