yeah...every time when I have a fight in real life I press space button to pause and rethink my actions, if not, I simply wait for my opponent to strike before I will...veeery realistic. I could like these NVWN games but it's sooo slow... Don't know why, but Kotor seemed better and more dynamic still being turn based...(sorry for my english)

@Rotceev There are a lot of games where you can pause during a fight. A lot of people do that to change tactics and whatnot because it's you know, helpful. I don't get why are you looking for realism in something like a ability to pause a game while in combat. Sorry but it's simply ridiculous. It's like saying that it's unrealistic that you have to click certain buttons for a character to move.

@Nightshade715 You don't understand, I do not focus on pausing. I focus on dynamics. In KOTOR you also can pause the game and rethink actions. I focus on the awful difference between so similiar fighting systems. KOTOR is turn based, you can pause, need tactical thinking, but still NVWN just sucks... not totally, only the system has no action at all. too long waiting for computer to attack. you could count seconds where actually nothing happens, then, after a day count how many time you lost.

The game definately seems like a step backward after playing Dragon Age (and yes i know its an older game) and this may deter/put off people who buy it after they have bought DA. But if you persevere there is a good game here, with sophisticated game mechanics, and a good storyline and lot of adventuring to be had. And a cool online mode.

@koora8 Dungeons & Dragons is one of the oldest (if not the oldest ) tabletop RPG (played with books, pen , paper , dice and your imagination). Currently it is in its 4th Edition ( NwN2 and DDO are based on its 3.5 Edition.) The rules are simply how everything works and plays (races, classes, spells etc). Personally I prefer the 3.5E versus the 4E, but that's a totally different subject.

@koora8 Just pick a simple class and race (like human fighter) and click the recommended button everytime. If you have trouble just read the manual or the description to get a basic idea. I learned most things by trial and error ;)

oblivion was not the greatest rpg i have ever played. It is,however, pure eye candy i get lost in the world of cyrodiil, but morrowind was the best elderscrolls. But Neverwinter nights beats them both as it stays true to rpg roots 100% you develop your charators similarly to how you develop yourself in real life and you get meshed into the world and forget reality untill the dorrbell rings and the pizza guy finaly shows up

I am in the Neverwinter Nights 2 had a very good figure of a warrior level 20 with so-called "sword of god" who had a super bonus to attack and other good bonuses, and great armor with good defense, with regeneration, and I was indestructible! :D

NWN 1&2 (like Baldurs Gate series) have a one thing that anyone similar game dont have and this makes his difference: D&D system, D&D storyline in the world of Forgotten Realms... Just them who played a real RPG, especially fantasy RPG, knows what I mean....

1. Abominable voice acting

2. Clunky persuade/lock picking mechanics

3. Omniscient guards

4. Most boring main story ever

5. Endless abyss of wildlife and forestry with copy&paste dungeons everywhere

It's only saved by its ability to be modded out the wazoo.

If you want a real RPG, try Vampire the Masquerade. It uses the source engine, so models are nice and efficiently used, with believable physics and decent combat. Story and characters are great and the game can be played in several ways. Plus, you're not rewarded for grinding monsters, which is what Dragon Age and Oblivion suffer from (too much dungeon grinding).

What do you call 'deep roads'? That was one uninteresting mass of mobs after another. I admit some of the dungeons (like the mountain castle) were okay, but some dragged on for too long and were only artificially extended by c&p hallways filled with monsters.

Deus Ex and Bloodlines manage to vary their content enough that you're never constantly grinding monsters.

I loved this game until it glitched quite far in. It was a real dissapointment and I havn't picked it up since.. It's a little more demanding than it should be. They patched it well for quite a while but gave up when there were still one or two too many bugs.

But the new generation is here, with new games like Gothic, Elder Scrolls or Fallout 3.

I do not like the fact that NWN2 is party-oriented even in the single player campaign. In NWN1 you could decide whether or not you wanted to have allies. In this one, you have no choice. Even on VERY DIFFICULT setting, the game was too easy.
