Trees breaking after Northwest Arkansas ice storm - January 2009

reminds me of the oklahoma ice storm. it was always eerily silent outside. only thing you heard was cars or trees breaking and falling. and the occasional power line snapping lmao

I live in jonesboro, and I didn't sleep in my bedroom for a week because of our huge oak tree out back! Thankfully it stayed up, but we lost many others.

I think this ice storm was more destructive than that tornado in 06!

Nice video. What I don't get is we got mentioned for what, ten minutes on the news or whatever? I mean yes Kentucky got it bad to but we got the same as them lol. And when we were picking up a tree cracked and almost fell on my brother. It was pretty extreme. Anyway very nice video =)

Thanks. Yeah, it was pretty messed up. One of the power company guys from Texas told a friend of mine that the damage around here was similar in some ways to hurricane Ike down there.

Goshen area here. Lost power early Monday eve. Came back up and then went back out until late Saturday. Still have at least one outage a day.

I was out of power for 6 days in Newport. IT WAS A VERY SCARRY NIGHT WITH THE TREES FALLING ON AND AROUND MY HOUSE! My neighbors sent their kids to stay with me because they didn't have heat. I was scard they would have been safer with no heat and away from my trees!!!

i'm in fayetteville near the campus and my power is still out, went out tuesday at about 10:30am. there are tons of trees all around me, and all kinds of power lines are mangled up.

i was in the ice storm in 2000, also. that one seems only slightly worse than this one. this one is bad, bad, bad. the further north and east you go from me it gets even worse.

I live in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and let me tell you. This is terrible. I dont have heat. I dont have electricity, nothing. I havent had power since Monday night. We had to have the road grater come up our driveway to clear it. I live on a gravel road.. So I'm close to the last of people getting power. Right now they have about 75% of the "in town" people with power and such.. This is incredible. Nothing has happened this bad since 2002... Those of you with power.. you're very blessed.

Had an ice storm in late 2007 I think in Iowa. but not like this. Had a boss force me in. Which I did make it in, but almost couldn't make it out of the parking lot. Really don't wanna drive in that again..

I live in springdale arkansas and I have(had) two large trees in my backyard. Most of the limbs are on the ground or suspended half way down in ice.. This sucks

Wow this is an awesome video. Here in Maine we have ice storms once every few years, but haven't had one this bad since 98'.
