i love both running man and midnight carnival. but the style of editing and type of song choice are so contrasting that i dont really think it is appropriate to compare them as being done. i think perhaps the reason midnight carnival got the edge on running man was that it is a lot different than any other video before that (i might be wrong) and nostromo does do a lot of the same types of video (i still love his videos though lol) and so probably for originality midnight carnival won.
It's not like, original-original. I think Midnight Carnival's style is very similar to many MADs of games/visual novels, where their source of footage is mostly still images. So it really depends on what you define as original.

Musicians sometimes even thanked me for using their music, or rather, that I like it enough to use it. But this depends on the musician and the genre.

While it is a nice work of editing, most of it is extremely simple. Also no story was built off this and it's more of a fanart showcase. It wasn't the best I saw, but it was okay.
