@DeFormWaves actually i used to listen to a few dubstep songs about 2 years ago before any of my friends knew what it was, it was decent then, the reason everybody knows it is because what were hearing today isnt the same its already eploited, at least back then there was a focus on structure and melody now its all about what sounds shittier, louder, has more feedback and clipping because apparently what every1 unanimously considered wrong for thousands of years doesnt matter anymore to stoners

@DeFormWaves chillstep makes up about like 5% of that genre and its basically just mediocre ambient trance with an lfo that comes out of nowhere...not bad just mediocre, listen to white sand by sunlounger, please find me any dubstep on this planet that can achieve that quality and emotion, and i like rules because im a composer and understand that nothing is just random in composition, also edginess is in any genre

@Andreilg3 there is melody in dubstep. if u listened to noise rock/metal, or even what u call that complextro. u should get it. just a matter of preference. i cant get into trance. long build ups and transitions doesnt cut it for me. i dont find that euphoric feeling appealing. i cant do much on my decks with trance. maybe im generalizing but trance djs dont get creative with their mixes. No beat juggling , scratching , rewinds.etc.

@DeFormWaves w2w? and csb you realize that a lot, im not saying all of trance is structurally identical to trance right? the only difference is the addition of rhythmn and more instruments being synths and the fact that only about 3-4 modes are used, most keys are minor, and the root and dominant are all upheld. The thing about trance is it can be absolutely amazing because of its lack of large limitations, it is an emotion bringing beautiful music but can also be bad, dubstep is very limited
