@Morethanbobsonofbob I found out Windows 7 and my 2009 HP pavillion works just fine with Homeworld, except my screen resolution is 1080p so the screen res of Homeworld only allows it to take up part of the screen. I guess I'll just have to back it down every time I play.
@rotfly Don't say that, the Sajuuk might just destroy our planet with its ion cannon. HW2 didn't suck, it just wasn't as great as the first two, but Cataclysm in my opinion was the best of the series. The Beasts were the only villains to give me chills down my spine.
@CosmicEquilibrium I agree about Homeworld 2. It was alright, but didn't have the motional impact of its predecessors. Catalysm had the best story, and the Beast were epic villains, but the balance in that game was unbelievably messed up.
Ah, meeting the Kadeshi... far more risky, but far more worth it than meeting the Kardashians. Sorry, I had to throw that pun in there. I can't resist punnery.
I just love the little silence in between the end of the Kadesh join-or-die speech (which I have memorized), and the Kushan ambassador processing the information and running back to the Mothership as fast as that little Corvette would take him. Total oh crap moments like that are just so very, very wonderful.
@AirWaterLandBuffalo Yeah, the best possible of use of classical Indian music...by the way that is Raag Kalyani , sort of like a theme ...that is roughly the Song of the Twilight in Indian music
this brings back memories, the music even fitted the mission because it was quiet and then they just came out of nowhere and were difficult to hold back.
Hahah, you're right! I thought originally that they were right side up and we were looking from below, but I checked a large picture of the box art and their aerials are on the upper side of the craft.
This song is perfect for the main menu of my movie that I am making. I geatly appreciate you posting this. Oh, and is there any way you can send me the audio file? Thanks!
Hey! I'm not trying to insult this music is awesome, I just need main menu music and the main menu is going to be cool with this music, but its an insult you're wrong
Lmao. Don't think so deep in this. It's better than nothing and you don't need to put it in battle. The menu should be something like this. Great music!
For sure they own everything in their path! It's very creative the thought of a race which attacks everyone who don't agree to live with them in peace forever. Great concept.
Their clunky fighters couldn't even handle the Kushan ships, and the Kadeshi swarmers are far superior. The only thing that could possibly take down their fighters are the missile corvettes, and those are too few and far between to be a reliable means of fighting them.
If the Turanic raiders encountered them.... well.. better part of valor.
"Spirultima" >>> Never argued about graphic, I just sad that it was the game itself, graphic, physics etc. that was so groundbreaking and to be honest, still one of my top 3 games (not including hw2)
there is, you know the Turanic Raiders? you know there missle corvettes, if you can capture one, its got a extremely long range missle spam attack, its like 100 missiles that can cover 3/4 of a large map (capture them by commanding a salvage corvette to kamikaze, press cancel and then quickly "capture", if you did it right you can capture them and they are soooo worth it) the swarmers make them a priority, BUT if you can launch it, it should destory a whole wave.
When i did this mission, the first kadesh mission , i used 6 Turanic raider missle corvetts, and did the special action. Then they pumped out lots of missles.
Raider ships are neat to have, but the rally suck crap compared to their counter parts.i would compare the raider fighter to the intercepter, and the raider missle and standard corvette to the heavy corvette.
Homeworld 1 was the game that broke the rules and created a new type of gameplaying, allowing more free and creative games develop. To be honest Homeworld 1 and Trespasser is the top games of the 90's, breaking the rules and pushing the development forward - just look att Crysis, Halo etc.
Your comparing Homeworld to Halo? That is insulting! Homeworld had an epic story, Halo did not, Homeworld never had a single american fighting against aliens, also Homeworld wins all aspects of gameplay (although Halo wins in multi-player).
But the message gets across and i agree, there was nothing like it in its day.
You missunderstand me, It's a fact that Homeworld opened up fot games like Halo and Crysis, not only the engines and ways of physics-in-game but also concepts etc. even if they failed. All that is mentioned by the game develpoers of Halo and Crysis when they talk about what inspired them to there specific game, and homeworld is the main feature for most of todays games, ;p
Aaaah, i see what you mean now, yeah it did open doors to lesser games.
But i think you will agree when i say that, even though i have all the new games in various different genres, still nothing compaires to Homeworld in just about any aspect, sure you could argue graphics, but imagine 10 years ago, back then, those kinds were awesome, the only game that earns graphics in recent years is Crysis.
I listen to the Homeworld soundtrack in my car everynight. The battle music gets me going and I start thinking im in a interceptor getting ready to take out a heavy cruiser. This is my favorite song.
@Ascensiam Nah. Veteran pilot, in a Taiidan interceptor. In canon they have a specific manuver that lets them drop below an enemy, kill the engine, and rip into an enemy as they fly by. It's in the novel, I think.
@Ascensiam You'd be surprised. That boosting ability has saved many a wing. Haven't you ever got like 15 of everything under frigate class and sent it en mass into the enemy?
I'm referring to an earlier comment where a guy says that you could take out a Heavy Cruiser with an Interceptor, you are talking about taking out strikecraft.
@Ascensiam Heavy cruiser, no. Destroyer, yes. Heavy cruisers have too much coverage. The real problem with it is the ion cannons. That's why you stay away from the front. But if you stay around the back of the thing with a pair of interceptors, you can tear it to bits.
It would be extremely unlikely for a Heavy Cruiser to be alone, as it often serves a heavy combat support role in a fleet, or is accompanied by a Carrier or Frigates.
You deserve to lose your Cruiser to Interceptors if you leave it like that.
@Ascensiam Agreed. However, a Crusier can take them. It doesn't have anywhere that it leaves uncovered. It can shoot all the way around itself. A destroyer can't. So if you were going to hypotheticly take down a capital ship with two interceptors, that would be the one.
The Cruiser has proven to be not only anti-frigate and anti-capital, it also is a serious threat against corvette and aggressive fighters, the Destroyer is solely built to counter frigate groups, although just two Destroyers can be a serious issue to a Cruiser.
This music takes me to the deep space and shows me the nebulas, the supernova remnants, the stars...This music reflects the mystery of the endless universe.
It doesn't fail, it's trying something completely different from HW, and I think its a huge success in making a 4X game in amazing looking and playing realtime.
Don't get me wrong the original HW is still one my favorite games of all time, and Sins can never unseat it, but then again its doing its own thing instead. Its like saying the battles in the Total War series are better than the ones in the Civ series! They are going for different gametypes. Just my opinion.
Is there any way you could upload all the music tracks from the three homeworld games I would of done that ages ago but i'm not sure how to convert the sound files anyway thanks for posting these they are amazing.:)
I wouldn't be able to :( I only have tracks from HW1.
I didn't think putting up all that ambient space music was necessary. Was never into the Yes song or Adagio for strings. although you can find them on YOutube somewhere.
If you look around all the homeworld soundtracks are out there in cyberspace I know cuz i have all the soundtracks and ambient sounds :o. If you go on relic's homepage some guy in the forums made a wicked soundtrack and released it for free.
Right thats it.......old laptop is getting an overhaul and Homeworld is coming out of retirement.
