No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
@Dragonknight7 It's a quotation of Sunday Bloody Sunday. The themes in the two songs are nearly the same: the irish question in Sunday Bloody Sunday and a chat with an IRA extremist in Please..
interesting, didn't know it was written during actung/ zooropa period...........always regarded this song head and shoulders above the other songs on the pop album.
Someone recently commented here on YouTube that Pop was some of the most sophisticated and magnificent rock musicianship ever, disguised as slush, and that the critics didn't get it... To be fair, many of us didn't get it at the time... It seems to make more sense today than it did back in the 90's.
HEY POR FAVOR SUBE EL VIDEO DEL "POPMART LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY" DE LA CANCION QUE SIGUE A ESTA "WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME" PODRAS ????...ES LA MEJOR GIRA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS EL POPMART Y DE MEXICO PARA EL MUNDO.
@jcarlos100 this song is about troubles in northern ireland, no friends or anything similar...and they've always played this song on popmart tour...every night
@esorciccio i Know and you should inform a little better, cause he sings the entire concert sad, because the vocalist from INXS died a night before this specific concert. I know it´s not about friendship. I´m just telling why he sound´s so sad in this particular performance.
@esorciccio ok i was wrong about him dying one day before, still have a point regarding the sadness of Bono. He even speaks about it at the end of the concert (i was there) So my point still valid.
@jcarlos100 that night he was sad because the night before the u2 head of security had a serious injoury because of the staff of the mexican president son who wanted to meet the band. u2 security told him it was impossibile but he insisted....it began a fight between u2 security and president son security...and the chief of u2 security had a serious injury that stopped his career. at the beginning of "still haven't found" you can hear bono sayin "we nearly lost a friend last night"
@juutuubify Im not denying that the accident happened with the security guard but I have read an article about the concert and Bono was referring to Guggi!! Ok!
It's just that in U2 by U2, they say that Bono was referring to their security man, Jerry Mele. But of course his name starts with a J and not a G, so he may very well have been talking about both of them that night.
i wonder why they don't keep playing this song on concerts... Please is just a great song as well as "Gone" and "Discotheque". Too bad they seem to feel ashamed because of all the critics. Still, I believe this record is better than the last 3 they've pulled. They just missed to make a good mix of the songs (which they corrected for their 1990-2000 compilation)
Amen to that my friend. This is my favourite version of the song live. I got this whole concert on cd which was a bootleg back in 1998 and the sound quality was excellent. I still have it to this day and it was worth the 50 bucks I payed for it. Gone is awsome as well, you are quite right. I wish they would play "out of control" and elcectric co. They are wicked live.
I remember hearing the story about the Pop album. It was their most ambitious album but because of time constraints being pushed on them it was never fully realized. I heard they were still recording pieces of it right up to the last minute. I would like to hear a special re-release of the entire album one day - remixed and finished the way it was meant to be. Because it was just never properly finished, and you can hear it in the singles versions of the songs and on the PopMart tour.
I also think its a tragedy and an indictment against the major record labels that they treat great musicians this way. They treated greats like Eric Clapton and George Harrison the same way. Consequently those guys started their own labels.
u2 are easily one of the top 3 bands of all time. no one has a history of relevance so lasting and their music transcends "pop" music. No matter your music rtaste, you like at least one u2 song. admi it.
i really do agree. the rest is for 'fans' - the last and the first time i saw the band I was up front in the heart-shaped box, everyone was having fun, i didn't, but i loved the music, so - at last my only wish was for bono to see me in the eyes, which he did. he froze for a sec you could actually see him concentrating, closing his eyes alittle, an assasin in the crowd,
I've seen some clips from their 360 tour. They've been playing The Unforgettable Fire and it sounds incredible - I believe their latest album (weather you like the album or not) does signal a return to creativity and what they are doing live is definitely a return to form.
You just never know, we might hear more greatness in them yet.
Heck, look at what Paul McCartney is doing now. I never would have expected it, amazing stuff. And if he can do it, so can U2.
i think they were quite right with taking a tv on tour and then a supermarket, concidering their music in eighties, and i mean the words and everything that was u2, they could confront our culture with those tours, leave an impression, now they have become that culture, and lost their relevance
i think they should simply remove the screens or stop preforming cause to me it doesnt make sense, remember the tours from the eightees, just a blank white background illumintaed with red. and the music.
One of the best songs of U2 live, it seems that the song does not exploit at the end and Bono start to whispering "please" desperate to make way for "streets",awesome (sorry for my english =))
Probably the best U2 live song, very dark, it's like a conclusion to Sunday Bloody Sunday, but instead of the rebellious tone, it's now almost a hopeless one... Perfection
Very insightful comment. There is definitely a sense of hopelessness in the song, of burden, of resignation. Its a rebuke, an eloquent conviction, without any expectation that those whom it's aimed at are listening.
Oh man, this is great. I was at London, Wembley gig. Working as a steward in the VIP section. Liam Gallagher & Patsy Kensit (married at the time), Bjork, Naomi Campbell (who was engaged to Adam at the time) to name a few were all there. Good times
Please, Please, Please let the new album have the haunting, strange, goosepimple-inducing, loud, raw, contorted nonconformist qualites of Actung, Pop and Zooropa. The snippets I've heard so far don't sound promising. But I'll continue to live in hope
It's still the biggest LED screen. I think that there's never been a bigger LED screen than this one. By the way, it was constructed by smartvision, a company from Montreal.
