antec brokes your graphics card... my last graphics card last for year now i have buy again new.... but im not sure about that but if someone can help me or smt plz tell me why my graphics card goes broke all the time. I'm not happy to buy every year new graphic card driver. and im low on money.
but why does this hapen???? my psu blow up silently for no reason...i checked the fuse, caps and other main parts but everything looks ok.... when i try to power up it turns on for 1sec then it goes back off and dosent come back on i'm now on the 4th psu but why do they blow up for no reason????????
When poor quality parts are used what the label says is not often anywhere near what the psu can do.
And if quality of parts used is so poor they will fail early.
A few years ago i put a cheap apower psu in my old pc rated good enough for my pc after a few weeks it caused issues so i put my under rated psu in and it still running.
When i opened the psu it was missing input filtering and the cap for +12 was not soldered in on one pin.
Unless you are going to SLI, I don't recommend buying PSUs over the mainboards limit. Some say that any board supports any voltage, but when other foreign cards are introduced, it can cause overloads to occur.
Are you sure the graphics card didn't go first, taking out the power supply? I've used Antec power supplies since 2001 in everything I build with no problems. Graphics cards on the other hand.... Well...
Ive just bought an antec quattro psu for my new pc & I now wish that id stuck with Enermax instead. Its obvious why Antec PSUs are cheaper than Enermax.
@cpmisalive So how exactly did it killed the graphics card?, did all the explosion come out of the fan and hit the graphics card? Or some thing that had to do with the wires?
@cyber8000 : well, the PSU stopped regulating the 12V line properly which caused the huge increase in voltage and thus, the current drawn. This, in turn increased the chopping frequency that blew the mains filter up (the component broken in two) and later the feedback circuit died (burnt track) then the fuse blew, all in 100 msec. On complaining, I was told it had a 2 year warranty - the box and instructions said 5 years...
I've seen a few of these antec's be flaky, sometimes it's just power drops and spikes at random, others they just crap out. Antec just subs the work out to the lowest bidder and slaps their name on it.
Besides my very first PC, I've always gone with enermax power supplies. Never had an issue with them.

I'm willing to bet it's more like the Fuhjyyu caps inside killed the PSU, which in turn killed the graphics card...

They don't blow up for no reason .
Maybe overloaded.
Was it cheap if so most likely on of the ones suited for a door stop.
they used bad quality parts.
ratbag359 5 months ago
@ratbag359 no none of them where overloaded........ but how is it posible to overload a psu with only one harddrive and one cd/dvd drive??

Capacitors are junk , that power supply is known for using cheap caps, had one that did the same thing.

@kelboswell Yeah, definitely the PSU - melted PCB tracks, ruptured components, all inside the PSU...

Sounds like you PSU, went and blow you video card as well. Never go with that make agian. Not if it kills ur video card.

Yep, I've learnt my lesson, not buying Antec again! The five year warranty isn't worth the paper its printed on.

wow ijust installed a fucking 8800 gt and that thing copared looks likea peice of shit
defCS 4 years ago
Way to "try" to show off..
buster215 4 years ago 2
Yeah, perhaps he'd of been better off spending the cash on some education ;)
cpmisalive 4 years ago
thats because the stock cooler was taken off, dumbshit.. try taking off your cooler on the 8800gt... it looks exactly like that...
nvtech11 4 years ago
The stock cooler went the moment I got the card ;) - September 2004, seems like a lifetime since then...
I had a watercooling block on there - 465MHz :) vs. 400MHz standard.
To make the vid, I removed the block and cleaned off the silicone grease.
I've got an Alienware laptop that I use for games, I don't have the cash to run two expensive rigs.
I'm in two minds whether to build a new PC or get another laptop.
cpmisalive 4 years ago
yeah, defCS thinks that your card looks like crap because it doesn't have a cooler...
