What do you mean? The U.S. military does a lot of training and advisement missions with foreign militaries, not just the Malaysians. They're not enemies, after all.
Why not? It happens all the time; Malaysia could be a valuable ally to the U.S. at some point and it helps if they're able to handle themselves and conflicts in their region. And it also serves to help U.S. personnel learn some new tricks and methods, as well, in addition to keeping their skills sharp.
