How on earth did you get such speed when you hit the lava? I've been trying to make it down to the bottom without having to use either the flower or the extra health mushroom.

You need to hit off of the wall of lava in order to get that speed. It usually requires you to hold back just a little to make sure you hit the wall. If you land flat on the bottom of the pit of lava, you'll have no momentum.

I just looked at this star, and if you let the second cutscene play a little bit longer, you won't have to worry about his odd movements at the start.

That aiming at the end is a lot more difficult than it looks btw. Good work :)

Cool. Is it like that on all stages that have funky controls to start...such as Throwback galaxy? Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately with a fast long jump landing and planet cancel this could be improved a bit still.

I'm not too sure if it works for all stages, but for throwback galaxy, if you skip the cutscene at the very last second you can avoid it. Also, I didn't think a fast long jump landing mattered since the luma goes at the same pace I think.

I was actually talking about the fast long jump landing after the sling star. However, after I replied to you I realized I got a fast long jump landing. Still a planet landing cancel could save another .2-.5 I suppose.
