I've just spent 3 weeks travelling round Europe in my 2CV - I only took 2 cds and both were Cocteau Twins. This is the most moving song I have ever heard .....
at the time of release, nme said, and i've a very fuddled memory, that this was either the no.1 track to fuck to or die to.i guess i shoulda laid off some drugs cuss mixing that up would be a bitch..
love to death n beyond... we will be flowing thru the infinite, holding this music in every molecule.. resonating thru all of existance.. with smiles permanently shining...!!!
Everytime at 1:05 when the chord changes and Liz's voice envelops the song I lose myself for a moment. It takes you to places you never knew existed and others you did but maybe lost along the way. In my 26 years of living Victorialand is one of the greatest pieces of art I've ever come across. Awe inspiring...
Pearl of a song! Sublime, touching, perfectly sung by Liz. What she makes with her voice at 2:10 makes me shiver, always. I can see now how fortunate I was growing up while this music was being introduced to the public by CT! Beautiful times!
Absolutely gorgeous, and you did a wonderful job with the graphics. My favorite song off this album. Elizabeth Frazer's voice, so beautiful.....does anyone hear any language phrases? I am trying to pick them out but the reverb makes it hard.....
This is Fraserish- Elizabeths own language- she sometimes sings in English or part Englis- the rest is her own wonderful gibberish and quite beautiful it is too - where she does sing English its also quite beautiful " I love my friends, my family, I have myself- I still have me "
I use to have a few cocteau twins bootlegs (about 20 years ago).I know they played a few tracks from Victorialand, but not sure if they played this track live?
I saw the cocteau twins live in glasgow in 1986 on the victorialand tour and I'm sure they did play this track live.
Only 99% sure because it was a long time ago but it was always my favourite track on the album so I'm sure I would remember if they didn't play it. Anyway hope that helps.
i like their sibyllin titles of songs

It doesn't sound like english to me. But i think she sang with no particular words, she just used her beautiful voice, a bit like a bird singing.

@BetteDillinger Don't knock yourself out trying to discern any intelligible words in their songs, because I don't think there are many!
I have read that, in fact, Liz is actually singing English, but that she interprets the words in her own way, vocally.
Just enjoy the lushness of the music, as it flows over your body, soothing your spirit, and calming your mind!
