They were not from upper/middle class backgrounds...joe only went to bording school because his father was a civil servant who often went abroad so the government gave joe (or rather John) a place at a good school
Anyone realize that most of the Clash came from middle to upper-class background? Joe Strummer was well off, but he's as punk as they get. Its not about the men behind the ideas, its the quality of the ideas put forward.
Pretty good re-interpretation of the song. Kinda takes out the urban feel of the original and makes it more haunting instead. Where are they playing this?

I agree. They kind of missed the point. The original was socio-political reggae -- one of Paul Simonon's "white" reggae pieces. This arrangement is original, but it is also kind of maudlin or sulky. I am not certain any of these nice kids from nice homes (albeit in dirty clothes) would know what a "Black Maria" is., to say nothing of having seen the inside of one.
paul plays guitar on this track not bass

becuase the stipe pant man has the best voice.
the orange hair doesnt have the best voice for the drama guns of brixton is trying to create.
the clash did theirs all off time and lovely, so lyrically they do it well

OOOOOOOOOHHHH, THE GUNS OF BRIXTON!! Despite being a bit of a slower tempo that this is a very good modern day cover of such a classic song!

And the clash is not a music, or clothes.
This is a life style, with idea style.

Nice tribute to a great song.
Even though the famous Paul Simonon bass line it's been replaced by mandolin, I will always have goose bumps listening to those words.

totally different from the original version, but quiet good.
the the clash version has something more groving in it, but this has something frightening.

Why are they allowed to be this wonderful? This is genre-less. They make it sound like a protest rally.

only arcade fire could cover the clash and do this song justice :)
