  • Y 12 volt system y not 48 and cut down on wire size

  • Are they recycled batteries?

    And how much are each?

    Thanks!

  • @ImUrtastyflava \

Sorry I got the price for each from the description.

  • Does anyone know what the life expectancy of deep cycle batteries would be? What is the unit cost of the deep cycle battery? Thanks in advance...

  • I'm new at all of this solar/wind stuff.....Al, I appreciate the videos and all of the trial and error that you guys have been through...hopefully it will save us newbies some heartache and expense.

  • Good job Al!

  • @jwright650 Thanks

  • Do yo have to use the same Brand of batteries?

  • @MrRanger400 No, but they should be exactly the same type and capacity

  • proper job (;^D)

  • @LOPEZdJUNGLIST Thank you

  • thanks nice video!

  • WHATS is the device nae to extend the life of the batterys?

  • @kricotas It is a battery desulfator, the brand is "Battery Life Saver"

  • I've heard that grid tie inverters do absolutely no good with the new smartmeters. Any thoughts?

  • @TheChineseEmpire I don't have a smart meter so I will talk from an electrical background knowing what these devices do. Smat meters can measure both input and ouput power (when you buy and when you sell power) and relay that information wirelessly back to the utility company. There is nothing in it that would keep a grid tie inverter from working. You'll simply make power that you'll consume yourself (unless you make more than you use) and buy less from them.

  • @econewpower, let me know what you find out. They were talking about this in a popular solar forum and nobody could say yes my bill were lowing using a grid-tie with a smartmeter. There were several advanced members saying you wouldn't benefit from one in many threads. Not one stood up and said my bills are consistently lower. Same here on youtube, haven't found one person using them with smartmeter with lower bills.

  • @TheChineseEmpire I'm certain that is pure nonsense, again, it is impossible for a smartmeter to keep a grid tie inverter from inverting its load. If it did, the inverter would warn you of a fault. Pure hogwash.

  • @econewpower, i'm not sure what your saying are you saying that the smart meter should be able to supplement the smart meter to lower the bills? There seems to be no proof of this. Thanks again for your reply.

  • @TheChineseEmpire Dude, if you're using 5Kw of energy and you're inverting 2Kw from your grid tie then you'll consume all of the 2Kw that you're inverting and you'll be buying the remaining 3Kw from the power through the smart meter (supplementing your inverter). The inverter puts out its power downstream from the meter (in your breaker panel) so there is no way any smartmeter in the world can keep it from inverting-trust me on that. You should get you an electrician to help you.

  • that's about 30,000watts you really need that much? How long would those batteries last usually?

  • @MegaDeathwarrant Not enough power, I really need twice that much. They will last me about 3 days assuming no sun or wind and with full utilization at home. You can't have too much reserve power. My entire house has been on batteries since Friday with the exception of the main air conditioner, possible only because I have good sunlight to recharge. Besides, you cannot draw the batteries below 50% without risking damage so I only really have 15,000 watts - that's not much.

  • @econewpower Aren't there batteries that are good for being below 50% low or is that bad on all batteries?

  • @MegaDeathwarrant They are all like that. The more you cycle the batteries and the deeper you cycle them the lower their life expectancy.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant Bad for all batteries

  • Hey Al. I was wondering if you do any maintainance on your batteries? Like refil them and such? Maybe you could post a video if you do.

  • when your batterys eventually die ,dont replace ,view mixcatcom vid on how to re energise them ,with safe alkaline electrolite ?it works, youre lucky, you know life history of your batterys, had no abuse ,so its worth you doing ,for sure ,

  • is any of those inverters grid tie?? i bet you could make a ton of power with that 2 kw inverter

  • With the miniscule amount that I generate, will it even feed back into my grid, or will I need more power?

  • @hotsexybrownguy You're good, if you have two 80 watt panels then you have 160watts, that's not minuscule..grid tie away my friend.

  • Hey, thanks for your reply. i have a couple questions but I do not personally know anyone else that knows anything about solar power. I have 2 x 80watt monocrystalline solar panels on my shed right now, charging a deep cycle battery. I am not using the power for anything. I was wondering if I should get a grid tie inverter from ebay and connect it correctly to my panels instead of charging my battery? This way I am atleast doing something with the power i'm generating?

  • @hotsexybrownguy Good idea, do grid tie and get the benefit of the panels...

  • Hey. Why don't you just get a grid tie inverter and feed it directly to your grid? You won't need batteries, and will generate more power. I'm sure you have looked into it, but why aren't you doing it that way?

  • @hotsexybrownguy Because:

    1) I want power if the grid goes down

    2) No easy to find a grid tie that works between 50v-100v unless cheap chinese not UL certified

I may still put a chinese one up there if I can't come up with something UL but we'll see. As far as generating more power...I'm not sure where you got that information but that's not really correct. Thanks for posting.

  • Nice work! I am subscribing.

  • @Floridaprepper Thanks for subscribing, welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy them.

  • @Floridaprepper I am as well, I can learn almost everything I need to learn from these videos and Econewpower! These are the only solar videos I've found that make any sense.

  • Al I must have missed this video. I gotta tell ya, your work is just so nice to look at. You are just a natural engineer when it comes to this stuff

    Ron

  • @NoMoWires Thanks! I really appreciate your comment. God bless you.

  • @NoMoWires Thanks Ron, appreciate the comment.

  • Right now the shed which includes the lights, an upright freezer and a chest freezer, all my tools, the water softener and the water pump. By the end of September it will 11 of the 14 circuits in the house - and I'll post a video of that. I'm at a point where the remaining work really takes a lot of work.

  • nice setup would like to see what you are powering or use solar to power

  • Nice man, those batteries are also sold at walmart, under the ever start brand. I have one, the ever start maxx group 29. It has the same specs, 125 ah, weigh about 55 lbs and is true deep cycle. I've had mine for about a year and its holding up great. Like you, I also keep a desulfator to refresh the batteries every now and then (about once a month). They should hold up for many years, johnson controls makes them. The same company that makes interstate, die hard, duralast and optima batteries.

  • @sirmasterpimp Thanks for the comment man, I learned something new. I didn't know that Johson Controls even made batteries, let alone some many recognized brands - that's a pretty good bit of information. I leave my desulfator on all the time as it pulses the batteries continually to break down any crystals that may be forming on the plates. Thanks!

  • glad to see new vids from you great as always

  • @michael970 Thanks Michael!

  • Really nice Al.. You have been busy. Awesome job :)

  • Very nice setup, and thats a good looking battery rack. How many watts of solar do you have total? Later from sunny FL!

  • @mrbuki77 Thanks for the comment. I have 1.6Kw of solar on Sharp PV panels which are grid tied. I also have 420w of solar going to the batteries from Harbor Freight panels. Finally I have 2Kw of solar on DuPont panels that I still have to install which will also go to the battery bank. Thanks and God Bless you.

  • Was that Tiger Claw inverter any good? I am looking for a good inverter.

  • @u2nvme Yes, I'm very happy with the Tiger Claw, I like the fact that it is a pure sine wave, the fans are load controlled so they don't come on unless or until the inverter gets hot under a good load and even then the fans speed is adjusted higher or lower depending on the cooling needed. I'm very happy with it.
