the Breakaways (post-Nerves, pre-Beat) version is pretty great just like the later Paul Collins' Beat track (1st lp). the third guy on the Breakaways' recording is one of my housemates 77-78, harlan (hollander) of the Tremors. (ditto the M&M's 45 by peter case's girlfriend Marcie, along with Case ditto). Harlan worked at north hollywood Budget RentalCar with Loren of the Dogs, but i dunno how he knew the guys from the Nerves. not that anyone gave a flying fuck about the Nerves in LA in 1977
Paul Collins and the Beat brought energy to all of their songs, but from 1:08 to 1:19, the audience looks like the living dead. Shame. This is a great performance of a great little power pop tune.
This song said it all for me in 1980. My girlfriend, Amy, returned to California, leaving me alone and shivering in Minnesota. I never fully recovered. We both loved the Beat and her favorite song was Rock and Roll Girl.

The worst part about this video is the damned audience. They must have been there to see something more boring and pretentious.

Ahhh one of the favorites of my youth.... fantastic. Can't believe the audience doesn't move with a great song like that.
