@Aleksander0525 He was refering to the dreaded 2nd act. Nobody who has performed second has ever won and those acts usually do pretty badly. I think this was a great song. I don't put the result down to politics, I put it down to the fact that it appeared to early in the contest, against some fantastic competition. I am confident that if it had appeared much later, we could have been in the top 10.

Either way there has never been talk of England breaking away from Britain as we're proud . . . . . @ComoEstas15 Without the juries, Germany and Norway still would have won. In fact, Lena's victory in the televotes was even bigger than that in the combined votes, and she won by just 2 points in the jury votes. Norway still would have won by a massive amount, but by a slightly smaller margin.

I watched the pre-selection show Eurovision: Your Decision that year. This song was the best of a bad bunch. Could you imagine if the British public had sent Michelle Gayle that year? We would have been nul points again. Sorry, but Russia deserved to win that year. And the UK deserved last place.
I am from the UK and this song wasn't the best song on the night. I know the songwriters from Absolute have got a good history of chart topping songs but this one is disappointing. Look at the chart position on the UK singles chart - it reached number 67 then dropped out of the charts a week later. Andy Abraham is a good singer but the song was rubbish. That is the only reason why it did not do well on the night

@jonathonbartle you're right, it's not fixed...however the votes are not cast on the quality of the songs, it is instead cast on the popularity of the country in question. So basically it's a popularity contest...the UK will always fail in that sort of contest as we are not liked by pretty much the whole of Europe.

Agree, but also UK dosen't seem to take this seriously. Other countries send big artists and great songs. We send nobodys with bad songs. We had Andrew Lloyd Webber this year and look what happened! Nonetheless, this is good and deserved more points I think.
There's no denying that Andy's a great singer, it's just unfortunate that this song was utter pants. It's just not memorable in the slightest and IMO it did deserve to come where it did.

he has a good voice and does a good performance, but the song is unfortunately very forgettable. still funny to hear the brits going on and on about how the whole europe hate them because they score so bad year after year. they dont realize that they send bad songs (nay, worse than the other bad songs) year after year, and have almost no neighboors to give them sympathy points. they look at their little girl through a fathers eyes, combine that with a swollen national ego and u get sad brits :)

What the fuck are they moaning about? Portugal have never won, France won in 77, and Germany have only won once. We are one of the luckiest, but not with shit like this.

@jonathonbartle you're right, it's not fixed...however the votes are not cast on the quality of the songs, it is instead cast on the popularity of the country in question. So basically it's a popularity contest...the UK will always fail in that sort of contest as we are not liked by pretty much the whole of Europe.

Exactly, all of Russia's points came from former Soviet states. Therefore wins. If their entry represented the UK, it would prevail. This would do better if it represented Russia. Therefore, politics gained Russia's undeserved victory.
