  • have you tried making hot air balloons

  • @Umaxen despite popular belief the most heat is produced at the head of the flame. Not lower. Though I agree a concave bottom on the pan would probably help plenty. I wonder if a small rim on the outer edges of the bottom combined with the concave center would also speed it up. Trapping heat like a curtain of sorts

  • pocket Rocket :)

  • @chicagobanana11 The WARP II stove is half as fast as a Pocket Rocket . I can boil 2 cups in 3 1/2 minutes and a Pocket Rocket can boil 4 cups in 3 1/2. So a Pocket Rocket puts out twice the wattage (WARP II is half as good). That being said, the WARP II puts out ~ 740 watts and that is about double most of my other stoves. I hope that clarifies my statement. Best regards - Jon

  • I like the thin flame, but you need a good pan made of super thin aluminum, turn it upside down and use some type of tool to give it a slightly convex shape. Put the flame as close as you can to the pot. I believe the shape of the pan should trap more heat and bring the water to a boil more quickly using less fuel.

  • I just purchased one of your Flat Cats, but would love details on how to make this stove.

  • This is still one of my favorite stoves to watch burn to date. :-) Great website by the way. I like it Jon. The Flat Cat produces a lot more heat than one would give it credit for at first glance. For a compact setup . . . this one is hot! My best wishes to you Jon. :-)

  • @varmintslayer311 The Warp Two is also one of my favorite stoves. The current flame size would be great for a larger pot, maybe 2-4 liter. I am searching for a smaller diameter neck bottle in order to tune the stove for a liter pot, no luck so far. I would also like to get the height of the pot stand down to make it more practical.

  • What parts did you use in making this stove?

  • Hello

Slightly down from the upper end position of the chimney, and providing a secondary air intake holes, a red flame is also resolved, I will watch clean burning flame.

  • Nice little flame thrower!

  • Look's good Jon! That is pretty fast. Always a plus when you are really hungry and don't want to wait. ;-)

  • @varmintslayer311 mmm food, must eat, now! Under 4 mins is good, bu t not best. Non-pressurised burners are cappable of more.

  • @TheBeebopper Cool, please send us the link! I would like to see how other people do it. I have not had much luck finding fast burning passive stoves (non-pressurized, no primingl, no external heat source). Faulks Rocket Cat stove is one of the best that I have seen.

  • @jonfong57 I have not searched the net. Take a small tall can, like a sardine can or tomato paste can (5oz I think) cut a hole at half the diameter in both the top and the bottom. Wick the inside (empty contents, wash + dry 1st) with a cotton facial cleansing pad(s), soak wick with pure alcohol. Place burner on stand with pot on seperate stand 1" above the burner. Light from bottom and smile. You may of couse benefit from a large aluminium pot bottom. 6oz boil in 25s wi alu can.

  • @TheBeebopper Are you going to demonstrate this said burner in a video BeeBopper?

  • @varmintslayer311 I'd love to yet I've no idea how to use my camera, it's been playing up for the last year, discharging the battery in 20 mins without use so I havn't been able to play with it. The simplest varient is easy-peasy, cut a 1" DIA hole each end face of the 2" DIA can, using a knife if you wish to consume the contents, wash, wick it all around with cotton pad(s), soak with alcohol and hang from a pot with some thin iron wire leaving an inch for the flame development. Hang pot, fire

  • @jonfong57 This pure updraught burner I've described may be bettered (a POV) using a perimetric base intake, still of a 1/4 the core draught area. There may also be a possibility of using multiple side draughts of triagular section which induce a vortex within the burner. This is an ideal if the burner is to be freestanding but the original enaction may be used in a hanging format, which saves the bother of stopping, when hiking, to set up your cooker. Easiest high output burner made.

  • looking good Jonfong57. i like that flame pattern, and seems quick at just over 3 minutes.
