you guys rock!!! What an awesome effort. We will be using your efforts as a blueprint for a long time. So many of us are fighting this nightmare. The problem with generating even green energy on a large scale is that you still have to transport it. 500kv lines are very damaging. Rooftop wind and solar, solar heaters, and local generation, is the best solution where possible.
How sure are you that there is no expansion of industry or residences? The further a line is away from a source the less effect it has. I am just trying to stir some debate here as it looks very one sided. I think some facts need to be checked about the cancer. Recent studies from the National Institute of Enviornmental Health saw no correlation with wires and cancer. I would place a link but you can't on youtube. But search electromagnet study and cancer on yahoo you will get a link.
Nicely made video but allow me to play devil's advocate. There is a reason why these wires need to be built. It is due to the overexpansion of residences and industry in the area. I think most of the blame should lay on the county/township who let all this expansion take place. First Energy is not going to build a line unless the demand is there. The towns greedily want the tax revenue and think there are no consequences. More development means power is needed. It is a necessary for safety.
There's been little to no expansion of industry/residences along either proposed routes. The purported need lies south of where FE proposes to drill a new corridor. The burden for carrying that power south will be borne by landowners who will receive no benefit from poles & lines that will scar their land for eternity. The towns who "greedily want tax revenue & think there will be no consequences" are NOT the towns through which the unwanted lines will invade.
I have to agree. You do have a valid argument. The 2003 Northeast Blackout was traced back to FirstEnergy. If ya don't like power lines, stop building houses and shopping malls! Has putting the line underground the line even been brought up at your town meetings?
i would like to thank everyone for your comments and will be passing them onto next years biology group, in hopes that they may even further investigate the power line project. most of all i want to thank all 244 views we have had in just the past 2 weeks. i encourage you all to leave more comments and pass this video along to all your friends and family.
This was superb! I do wish that you had mentioned the health dangers to the poeple who will live along these lines -posted on Geauga's Care site and the Raccoon Rountable. These lines could have devasting effects on the children who live withing 300 yards of them causing a 5-fold increase in luekemias and brain tumors.
Well done Hershey students. Good job of documenting and presenting a visual editorial on an issue important to you and other Geauga County residents. Look forward to seeing many of you this fall.
Powerlines are good. Live with it. XD
