some (most) states require a licenses usually only $25. but need to be renewed yearly

check your "Department of Natural Resources" (DNR) for your state!

to see if you can have one there, also migh need to check with your city/ town.

My state requires a permit unfortunately for a fox but completely bans owning dangerous animals such as Wolves, Lions, Tigers and Bears. I don't really see the harm in keeping a fox as a pet as long as you get it from a licensed breeder, Hell some Dogs are more dangerous than a little fox I don't believe a Fox could kill a person like a vicious Pitbull or Rotteweiler..

Why are there still people who see an "exotic" animal as a pet and get freaked out still? You'd think by now everyone would understand that a pet is just an animal being taken care of by a human. Any animal can be taken care of by a human; you just need the right tools.

@Bloodluster135 Dogs were domesticated through natural and manipulated selection. We have bred some bull dogs that can no longer give natural birth. German Shepherds have hip problems because humans have "taken care" of them. Some cattle can no longer digest grass (what their two stomachs were developed for). The word "exotic" means that it has been imported and does not belong in that environment. Exotic pets and plants are dangerous to them, to the owner, and to the environment.

@PrairiePie23 Some dogs yes (including foxes) but as I said to someone else, you can train a stray to do things in a matter of years. And by stray I don't necessarily mean a chihuahua. Hell if you know what you're doing, you can capture and tame a wild wolf.
