  • one of my personal favorite emulators to hack codes on!

  • where can i get super mario bross rom not the hack just the rom plzz tell me

  • @007spudman Google "super mario bros nes rom".

  • Please tell me how to get this lua script!

  • Can you tell me how to get the lua mouse?

  • Is there any NES emulator for Mac Snow Leopard that can TAS?

  • I have a problem with FCEUX 2.1.4a, I can't freeze memory addresses in the Hex Editor.

  • @Dark0Lord7 Oh, I found out, I was trying it in the PPU memory.

  • How does it work?

  • The reson why I switched to fceux.

  • X,can you use this on ANY GAME?!

  • Great now bowser created SCIENTIST GOOBAS!!!!!

  • This would be an awesome form of multiplayer, xD

One person controlling Mario, the other one controlling the mouse. It'd be cooperative or competitive depending on the players.

  • when i try to load a rom it says Windows disk error WTF?

  • im haveing a problem when i play mario on my emulator every thing moves way to damn fast and i was wandering if you could tell me something to fix this problem

  • 17 people missed the like button

  • debug mode.....add items yadda yadda

  • you can cheat at mario bros using this by dragging enimies down a hole

  • How do I slow down the frames per sceond on this emulator

  • haha, funny seeing you just toss King Koopa aside in the castle.

  • how do you do that

  • Just watching this takes me way back...classic...

  • hey, a stop function would be great!

  • Wow, this is awesome! Great work man! I've tryed it and it's cool.

For everybody asking how to do it:

just open the rom -> go to -> file - Lua- new lua script window - browse - find the folder lua scripts and select one. The one from the video is called SMB-mouse.lua

    You must try it! xD

  • Would it be possible to make something where you can drag and drop blocks?

  • Doubtful. That would require hacking the ROM or some access to areas of memory FCEUX doesn't have access to.

  • @Xkeeper0 Your logic is flawed, sir. You're saying that the emulator that runs your game doesn't have access to all the memory it requires for this process? Think a little bit harder! ;)

  • @MatthiasVance No, but the Lua interface the emulator uses (which is what I was getting at, there) does not have access to the required areas of RAM, at least not as of when I wrote that.

The emulator itself does, of course; but the Lua interface only has access to the RAM and ROM, not the PPU registers or other such critical portions of the memory.

  • @Xkeeper0 Oops, that is indeed a possibility! Sorry!

  • @Xkeeper0 You DID have success on Area Scrambler, why can't you do this then?

  • @rinkavideos64 Because the area scrambler just writes to the RAM address that the game uses to load data. Writing to the nametable (where the graphics are stored) is not possible in the current version of FCEUX.

When nametable writing is possible, it can be done (along with a lot of other fun things). But right now it is still an impossibility, unfortunately.

  • @KirbyRoolz47 Doesnt sound too difficult, just reorder the nametable.

  • Does anyone remember the glitch at 4:07 where u jump on the horizontal part of the green pipe, break the first brick, and move all the way to the right of the screen? It brings you to three pipes, you go down any of em, and it brings u to a water world. My mind wants to say it's called a "negative world". Anyone know?

  • That would be the "Minus World" bug and everybody knows about it. Try Google.

  • Comment removed

  • 6:16 XD

  • How do you do that?

  • how do i change the game controls not the system controls

  • hey i cant find any roms for the fceux or does it not matter what i use?

  • Actually, it takes a lot more skill to play this (as you can only play with one hand and must track the cursor and Mario at the same time), but hey, who doesn't like being a pompous ass? :D

  • do want finished version!

  • que tramposo che.......

  • key, there is a port!

on homebrew its one of the homebrew channel apps

  • can you put out a download for this?

  • It's in the main FCEUX download as smb1mouse.lua.

  • side bar yawn

  • Will you be doing this for other NES games such as LoZ?

  • I've been playing with Link's Awakening right now, if that counts.

  • That would be cool.

  • whats the controls for FCEUX?

  • Rock and roll!

  • why can't i use keyboard to play in FCEUX,any idea on how to configure it?

  • i think u use the arrow keys and f and d. thats what i use for my mario games with fceux

  • If you'd like, you can show us making Mario go all the way to the right side of the screen in world 1-1 and its results after he gets to the flagpole. By the way, I tried this in the new NES, and I was surprised at the results.

  • I meant classic NES

  • beautiful

  • I did not read all the comments (is this is already mentioned?) but how about spawning new enemies?

  • dont you a download link or something ?

  • Good job!!

  • How about netplay because all of my friends live far, far, far away...

  • does anybody know what to do if you have pressed that pause with the 2 lines? I can't fucking return to my game when i do thst.

  • I hope it can recors the mouse input soon :D

  • i mean record.

  • help I tryed lua edit but when i put it in to FCEUS it says i need lua5.1.dll BUT I CANT FIND IT HEEELLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol, that's awesome!

  • How Do I Open This? I DownLoaded Luapack And Fceux But Where Does Open P.S I Have A Mac

  • 6:29

with this, you can fling those annoying Toads into the sky!

  • good job :)

  • this game got a lot easiear now that Mario has psiquic powerz

  • Comment removed

  • Nice.. whered you get the super mario brothers ROM? I cant find one anywhere D:

  • That's wacky.

  • FLYING GOOMBAS!

  • forget the down/up^thing, maybe with the mouse wheel or left/right click on the enemy box.

  • tthats great!

also, there should be a sprite spawner selector, pressing up/down will select them (sommun)

  • I want Mario Bros.1 Drag & Drop

  • It says "The copy game you have loaded, "Super Mario Bros.", is bad, and will not work properly on FCE Ultra." Is there a specific rom that I need because the one I have works fine on every other emulator

  • Try FCEUX. Worst case scenario, find a better ROM.

    You want this:

Super Mario Bros. (JU) (PRG0) [!].nes

  • Could you see if you can get this on the Wii homebrew? It would workso great with the Classic controller moving Mario and the remote pointing and clicking. And try to se if this can be done with other games, Like Super Mario Bros 2 (USA and JAP), SMB3, Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, and any other classics.

  • Super Mario Bros. - X-men style. Awesome. Would be even cooler for SMB3 ;)

  • Whats the controls!!!!

  • Imagining that this is a serious question makes it much funnier.

  • 1:38 katamario damacy

  • port this to the pandora!!

  • LOL One player with a mouse, other with the controller, AWESOME TEAMWORK!

  • Where did you download the rom?!! Need to know, I've been looking for it a long long time. Can't find it though...

  • If you find out, can you please tell me???

  • so... what about controllibng coins?

  • Dude... this would, with some tweaking, make an awesome DS game. Think about it-- you have a CPU-controlled Mario, and you use the stylus to drag and drop enemies, items, and objects to help Mario complete levels. Maybe even a two-player option where one player works the stylus, and the other controls Mario.

  • @melissaduck Dude, buy DS Game Maker and make a ROM! This is making me SO HAPPY!

  • @melissaduck if you could add enimies i dont see why you wolud want to help him mabey the point is he is super good and you have to stop him

  • how do i do that?

  • nice

  • I could definitely see something like this on the Wii.

Funny how the only interesting things done with waggle come from indie developers and hobbyists, as opposed to the shovelware shit you see on the shelves. "Carnival Games: Electric Boogaloo!"

  • Imagine: Dogshit Cleanerz.

Also, be sure to actually get the script :P

  • cool

  • were did the mushroom go? :(

  • 1:04 rocks! hahaha. along with 1:19

  • heres some ideas If it would be possible, a Drag and Drop for the Blocks ,and copy and paste/Genrate any object/sprite features for both but thats just a Idea

  • can't wait to fling the princess off the screen

  • download link?

  • You could say the same about the Virtual Console.

This is meant to demonstrate something new and interesting, not be the same old game.

  • awesome. really cool video.

  • I downloaded the program and I got meh ROM. Where do I get meh LUA scripts?

  • finally <3

  • this is the coolest youtube video ever.

  • oh nes only PLEASE make a snes!!!!!

  • Wow, this looks really cool!

  • HOW DO YOU DO THAT I WANNA TRY!

  • this would be a great idea on the DS.

  • dayuhm nice!

  • u can have the cursor pick up blocks to build the stair case's at the end of levels.

  • Or you can just pick Mario up and put him at the top.

  • Do this with Mario 3, man.

  • which configuration you're using the emulator?

  • this shit is fucking cheap lol

  • Awesum! thx KOTAKU! :)

  • I love Super Mario! xD

  • LOL! Sandbox Mario!

  • pretty cool mannn

  • That was so cool how you took the Piranha plants out of the pipes.

  • lol bowser

  • I almost suffocated from laughing at the end of 1-3.

  • it took 3 times as long to get through 1-2

  • Mario used to not be able to go backwards..

  • wow Mario the haceker. ahah

  • I love the things you do with platforms^^

  • Very cool, nice job.

  • Haha the goompa seems not pleased by being dragged and dropped.

  • A new way to play SMB??? Cool ^.^

  • LOL this is way too awesome...

  • NYCE That totally freaks my freak!

  • LOOOOOOOOOL

  • Fun, obviously. And a good demo for what you can do with Lua scripting in FCEUX.

  • Original is always the best.

  • You have been Featured on Kotaku!

  • I noticed! I've actually posted in the comments section a few times :)

  • now that a way you can cheat in this game

  • It would be cool if you could move the blocks around too

  • i'm not sure how difficult it would be, but maybe you should try giving the cursor the ability to spawn various objects

    ...turtle shells, lives, etc.

  • Very much a planned feature. :D

  • 4:45 is nuts, and I don't mean cashews.

  • jaja XD

  • :O This is genius.

    Needs moar views.

  • Why would anyone ever need that?

  • The better question is... "Why would anyone ever not want that?"

  • funny

  • Wow, great work! I have to play it with that emulator! XD

  • it's amazing, guys!!!

  • that looks like fun

  • this would be pretty cool on super mario world

  • This is pure insane brilliance. Any chance of pulling this off with SMB3?

  • It can most likely be done. It just needs to... well, be done.

  • Omfg so WIN!!!!!!

  • input.get rocks!

"Now if we could just get FCEUX ported to the Wii..."

I've thought about using a Wiimote to control NES games, too.

There's at least one library written in C that allows you to use all the features of the Wiimote on your PC when connected as a bluetooth device.

  • Oh wow, that's great!

  • This totally cheered me up. I can't wait until the final script is released. Would it be possible to move around Mario with this script? It's not done in the video, so I don't know if it would work.

  • It'll be released with FCEUX. :)

This script isn't finished yet (think of it more like a tech demo)... there will be more you can do with it later.

You can't move him yet, though that comes soon... :)

  • On that note, I've already made some huge improvements ot it. For one, throwing enemies is no longer a huge pain, and soon you might get rewards for it :)

Along with other features, like spawning enemies or locking them in place for later...

  • Cool!

  • Now you can actually do whatever you want with that stupid duck hunt dog

    KILL HIM!!

  • That looks incredibly fun to play. Nice progress.

It's a shame I have no idea how to get the ROM to cooperate with the Lua files. Help?

  • If you're really confused, ask me via PM and I'll give you some help.

  • It's not that I'm completely confused. I have the files, but I don't know what to do with them before I open the SMB ROM.

  • You start scripts once the game is alreay open.

Try running a simple script, or throw this into Notepad:

    while true do

    gui.text(8, 8, "Everything is OK!");

    FCEU.frameadvance();

    end;

If this works, everything's fine. If not, make sure you have the Lua pack in the right place.

  • ur my hero Xkeeper

  • Hanvent been keeping up to date with FCEUX progress, guess it's time to start paying attention again. ^_^

  • and that's why Lua will save the world :D

  • Now that's how debuggers should be :).

  • Xk, you never cease to amaze me. This is awesome.

  • That was friggin' hilarious! I laughed my ass off when you juggled the dying Goombas.

  • Xkeeper, you have done what no man has done before....

You have gotten the 1up mushroom in 1-2 as little mario without running your ass off...

For years man has struggled over this

and in one fine mouse stroke... it's done.

  • That's actually really amusing! I'm definitely gonna have to play with this sometime.
