@Smilingiskool Sketchup is good for quick modeling but AutoCAD is definitely better. Have you tried Revit? It's like taking AutoCAD to a entirely new level

I am in year 12, NSW, Australia and I use SketchUp for my Major Design Project for one of my subjects, Design and Technology. I am still figuring out how to use it but it seems pretty good so far :) My dad loves it too because he uses it for set design and found it really easy to learn and likes the features :)

a) There are alternatives for pretty much everything Google does (Bing, Autodesk, iOS, Vevo, Windows 7, Hotmail, Microsoft Exchange etc.)

b) In most cases, google don't sell their products (not in a traditional money-for-goods sense at least)

I personally learned Sketchup by myself in a year, it's a bit of a rip off to pay for a class that learns the program where I learned it for free. But then again it took me another year to master it. Well it's amazing how people use Sketchup in different ways, the free version is just as powerfull as the Pro. (heck is AutoCAD even this easy to learn). Well I'm moving on to bigger and better things but Sketchup is a great tool, and compared to everything else - a fun toy to play with.

They don't have to bother with the details because the system is well designed, yet they have full access to the underlying OS. You apparently like crashes and viruses (or work with Linux in which case you're ok in my book).
