  • I have the same problem it's so annoying

  • @mhodgman50 After I pretty much gave up and left it connected, it showed up for me. Such a tease. See if it works... just let it sit there for a minute or two.

  • @kendalismyname Hey I was browsing videos just how and found a solution that works on my computer at least! If you have the movies on an SD card, open iMovie and then pop the card it, it shows up for me. I would always put the card / camera in first and then open iMovie and it'd never show up

  • Find a new hobby. I don't think your brain was designed for this.

  • @MrPaboshon and that's why I got a visa into France to shoot a web series. hmmmmm....

  • You are cute

  • You can do it Liz Lemon!

  • @drbillyhell haha. thanks. :-D

  • I have the same camera and it works fine with importing to iMovie 08/09(normally don't use iMovie i use Final Cut but i just tried it) and also to FCP Studio, I don't know what iMovie you are using but Flash drive and Hard drive based camcorders only work with iMovie 08/09 and NOT with iMovie 06/HD/or any other older version(only MiniDV tape based camcorders work with the older iMovies). try HV20.com ask on the forums, good ppl

With this camera it does not need to be in a power-source to import.

  • Hey Kendal, not sure what is causing ur problem. I opened iMovie and then connected my HF S20. Then I chose File > Import From Camera and a window popped up in iMovie with little thumbnails of all my clips so it seems to be working for me. I assume ur using iMovie '09? Another not-so-easy workaround would be for you to convert your footage before importing it into iMovie b/c It doesn't seem you can import the .mts files directly. There's a free program called Handbrake u can google and download.

  • @teenagepsychic i think I have the wrong plug for it. I think I have to have my brother find it and send it, but when I asked him to look he didn't find what I think I need....

  • Sometimes the type of file on the camera doesn't match with the type of file that imovie accepts. Check if that might be your problem. :)

The SD card option sounds like it'll work if all else fails though.

    Hopefully that helps a bit!

  • yar try the SD option..less wires XD

  • The lens cap shouldn't matter when importing to the computer.... I did check Canon and they wrote back. I think I'm doing everything right.... I have to take it up with iMovie, basically, if I'm having trouble... might try the SD card way after following a few other pieces of advice from the online world....

  • go to canon.com and usually they will have a driver that you can download to your computer, if not try there help center online...hopefully it works or it fixes itself ha..best of luck

  • o.O did you take the lens cap off?

  • always assumed a firewire with iMovie. looks like the SD way is your best bet. sometimes not following the steps to connecting device can erase media. beware
