I saw these guys open for Sonic Youth. I will say that I found them intriguing for the first 15 mins or so - then it started getting old fast. Still, while I wouldn't go see them again or buy their stuff, I will give them credit for being interesting and creating a unique ambience . . . kind of like being inside a horror movie. Yes, perhaps anyone COULD do this, but nobody else DID.

That bass player should be collecting tickets at a parking garage somewhere, not touring and certainly not operating instruments and sound gear. Viewing this again, it's sadly noteworthy that around the 2:50 mark he's being a supreme fucking asshole... holding the bass up in the air, shredding a bunch of non-notes with the strap off (so artsy!), and continuing to headbang like a metalhead jackoff while there's no beat or rhythmic swagger whatsoever.

@humanenglish Quite the contrary. They are completely uninteresting. Sure, they make noise with no rhyme or reason, but that doesn't make them interesting. If you saw kids doing this on the street, you'd think "Wow, it's inspiring that even though they lack any necessary talents or otherwise notable abilities to handle what they're doing, they still try anyway. I mean, I can whip out my dick and slap my guitar strings with it, and by your definition, that would make me an incredible artist, but by the definition of someone who isn't a hipster, it's bullshit. Sure, it would be interesting to see someone play guitar with their dick, but it would also be creepy and stupid, and also would stop being interesting when you noticed that that was all they could do.

I make noise, and I also play in a funk band, so would you make the assumption that all I can do is make noise just from seeing me play noise? but so what if it's all they're doing? listen to 10 seconds of any rock song. all they're doing is playing notes and chords to a rhythm. it's even more repetitive than most noise. the thing is, noise sounds harsh and inaccessible, but "understanding" it is a lot more simple than you think.

Wolf Eyes, and noise music in general, is not really about beat and harmony and chordal theory, it's about texture. It's also just the kind of music that, if you don't get it, that's great. Don't listen to it.

That bass player should be collecting tickets at a parking garage somewhere, not touring and certainly not operating instruments and sound gear. Viewing this again, it's sadly noteworthy that around the 2:50 mark he's being a supreme fucking asshole... holding the bass up in the air, shredding a bunch of non-notes with the strap off (so artsy!), and continuing to headbang like a metalhead jackoff while there's no beat or rhythmic swagger whatsoever.

as with any genre, you have to have listened to it often enough to appreciate the differences between the songs and parts of songs. to you it sounds like noise, but to fans of noise, the song is distinct.

This is FUCKING RETARDED. Controlled Bleeding can make way upbeat music with noize, with expierimenation, and with screaming ten times better. Doing this requires no talent. And dont give me this "appereciate all kinds of music" bullshit. All of you do yourselfs a favor and listen to some real industrial music/noize music.
