Senna was fearless. While everybody was going on about aqua plaining and low visibility, Senna was just concentrating on what he had to do. That's what made him incomparable to any other racing driver. Just fearless.

Prost emerged from this GP with class and integrity...unlike many of his colleagues. Prost never, ever forgot Pironi's accident in the rain at Hockenheim in 82.

I have always said from the time I saw this, and you and I have disagree on this, I felt that for Senna, after all the mistakes, after all the bad luck or mechanical mishap, to still have had a chance to win the title, and then to have someone take it away from him, wouldn't any human being in Senna's posisition wouldn't want to go out and win by 4 laps, if he was still in contention for the Title, he would not have continued to push after such a big lead...It would have be a differerent result

@lucianoestivill the problem is is that Jean Marie Balestre admitted that he "gave" the 89 championship to Prost.. the issue was not the push start, Senna was deemed to be in a "dangerous position".. but the missing of the chicane- and as he'd crashed it gave him no material gain whatsoever.. Senna was done out of it a little, but history says Prost won, and so I will accept :-)

@lucianoestivill morally you may well be right.. they both won championships that they shouldn't have, and therefore the whole thing evens itself out... but my point is that Balestre got involved in a way that he shouldn't have in 89.. and didn't in the 1990 incident, this was let go as a "racing incident", however it could be argued that Balestre had a flimsy excuse in 90 when it came to the grid positions in 90, that they had already been painted so couldn't be changed.. all conjecture though
It always amazed me why Piquet (3 times Champion) agreed with Prost and all the guys on doing 1 lap and finish with this nightmare race, but when it comes to fulfill his agreed decision He didn't fulfilled it. It's also strange how Nigel reacted, in fact He spent almost all the time in the garage, not too involved in this serious issue, He left the "job" to be done by the rest of his mates... He didn't get his "punishment" in 89, but He'd get it in 91: He was hurt in Adelaide 91.....

Stewart is often considered a "whiner", yet he drove one of the greatest horribly wet weather races of all time!!! On the most dangerous track ever - the 'real' Nurbergring 1969. Overall I (personally )reank him 6th all time. Senna is my # 1.

I have always said from the time I saw this, and you and I have disagree on this, I felt that for Senna, after all the mistakes, after all the bad luck or mechanical mishap, to still have had a chance to win the title, and then to have someone take it away from him, wouldn't any human being in Senna's posisition wouldn't want to go out and win by 4 laps, if he was still in contention for the Title, he would not have continued to push after such a big lead...It would have be a differerent result

I understand dalebshelton, OK, but don't forget Senna's lawyers and McLaren Team was still trying to FIA restore the victory to Senna, and those 9 points..... So, in fact, He still had a chance to win the title.... He should have take care of winning this race to have a minimun chance if his claims at FIA finally succed.... But He went wrong, again. 1989 season was a disaster for Ayrton, just a point of view of another Senna fan like me. He didn't deserve that title: fortunately, He lost it.....

@lucianoestivill the problem is is that Jean Marie Balestre admitted that he "gave" the 89 championship to Prost.. the issue was not the push start, Senna was deemed to be in a "dangerous position".. but the missing of the chicane- and as he'd crashed it gave him no material gain whatsoever.. Senna was done out of it a little, but history says Prost won, and so I will accept :-)

@lucianoestivill morally you may well be right.. they both won championships that they shouldn't have, and therefore the whole thing evens itself out... but my point is that Balestre got involved in a way that he shouldn't have in 89.. and didn't in the 1990 incident, this was let go as a "racing incident", however it could be argued that Balestre had a flimsy excuse in 90 when it came to the grid positions in 90, that they had already been painted so couldn't be changed.. all conjecture though

It always amazed me why Piquet (3 times Champion) agreed with Prost and all the guys on doing 1 lap and finish with this nightmare race, but when it comes to fulfill his agreed decision He didn't fulfilled it. It's also strange how Nigel reacted, in fact He spent almost all the time in the garage, not too involved in this serious issue, He left the "job" to be done by the rest of his mates... He didn't get his "punishment" in 89, but He'd get it in 91: He was hurt in Adelaide 91.....

jonoderidder: Piquet seems to be not the only one.... ALL of the drivers didn't so what they had previusly agreed: retiring after 1 lap. The one and the only who really behave in a gentleman way was Prost. Finally, Prost was right: it was a suicidal competence, and almost all drivers had accidents (except 5 out of 28), and they can be happy nobody was killed or injured, specially the one involving Piquet and a couple of guys, or the one involving Senna-Brundle... ALL forgot the word "honour".

It's a pity that only one man dare to fullfill his promised of retiring after 1 lap. Even Piquet and everybody else (all agreed on not starting except Ayrton) didn't fulfill thier promises. Very bad for them, I must say.... The only one that showed real comon sense and a careful approach on it, that is to say, plenty of sportmanship (fulfilling a promise) was Alain... The rest... Well, the rest, got what they deserved: only 5 "valiants" finished this so called "race". A disgrace....

The only logical points of view here are those from Prost and Piquet. Prost preview of the race turned out to be the correct one: not a race, just a ridiculous driving for every driver, even Senna, who took what he deserved: crashed like a noob agains't a backmaker. In my case, I'm a Senna fan so..... It doesn't matter if He was quicker than, better than, etc. We're talking about this race... The best and the fastest (He was in fact) lost the race... No robbery, no DSQ, no mechanical failure, etc. But He didn't finish the race and lost. A more accurate explanation is needed here rather than noob quotes. Explain why He scored points in 7/16 that year as well....
