  • But what if a creeper suddenly pops up and blows away parts of the railroad?

  • It's cool, but what happends if the motor/cables break while passengers on board?

  • @CoBzu: Either of the cables could break and it would be fine. The motor, gearbox and coupling are rated for 10 times the current load, but yes it is a risk. I am actually working on a counterweight solution that essentially nets out the empty cart load (minus enough to get it to go down). This should at least remove part of the risk. I have researched automatic brakes and the like, but haven't been able to produce something simple and effective.

  • Hi Jeff and crew!

I just want to tell you that I am totally inspired by your work. We have a home on a hill with sixty steps (no Driveway) and I am going to build a tram also.

I subscribed so if you put on any updates I'll get them right away. Thanks from Horseshoe Valley Ontario Canada!

  • @area51zc: Thanks for the compliments. If you want to see more details, I documented the project a little more fully on makeprojects. Go to makeprojects and search for Tram. When you see the cart with a green top/roof, thats the one.

  • Thats sooooo cool!
