The only problem with the gameplay is just that you don't run too often. It seems like just peaceful running for 15-30 mins then a 5 min chase sequence. Just doesn't seem as balanced according some people I know.

it isn't silent hill anymore and it never will be, new developers usually means big change! the last best SH was 3, the graphics are absolutely amazing really sharp everything perfect! honestly looks before its time like a very early ps3 game but... SH4 the room wasnt as pretty, nice effects but still missed the point of storyline, i dont feel the storyline in most of these new ones tbh! Apart from the psp release! thats kinda cool :-) ps1 standard hehe
I'm 25 years OLD. I Hoped that one day I can never say kids these days suck... but, I stand positive when i say that, because tv, music, games like sh1 still stand their ground through time. kids can't back their stuff because they're only temporary fads or just canceled for lack of interest. they can never say i'm not with the times.

It's more of a sequel isn't it? I think so-not a remake or a reimagining. I think of it as a sequel because of the ending. Cheryl/Heather clearly had a nervous breakdown and it explores her mind
Not being able to fight back is not a new concept by a long shot. There are plenty of "Stalker" games like Haunting Grounds and Clock Tower when you have no ability to fight back. While I enjoy such games I see very little about Shattered Memories that truely seems scary.
I like every single concept of this game except the lack of monster variety. Silent Hill has always had monsters of all kinds of types (some scarier than others, but that's a matter of opinion). The Raw Shocks are scary, but they should have incorporated other types of monsters as well.
Btw imo this game's strong point( as all silent hill game's strong point) is the story, and atmosphere. Not that scary game, but it compensates by turning up the cocoa on the atmosphere with the music and the phone messages. One of my fav SH games. Other 2 being SH2 and Homecoming. Yeah...I like the "search for person x" story themes:)
I got this game it was a good game. and as for the asshole whos complainnin yu should just shut the hell up. yu dont like it thats yur loss but dont be puttin down other people who actually like this game and how its taking a different aproach. And no the silent hill games are NOT about running away from the damn monsters its about the unique storyline bitch.

@dizziedylan It's a huge mistake to make this game for the wii on the first place. Wii is a family console to play family games... Silent hill should not have even be considered for the wii. Unless they develop a proper gamers controller and not that piece of shit rod dick-alike thing. I think the wii is an insult to real gamers, it may be fun for family, and yes i would prov buy one, but it's still an insult to hard core gamers.

It also has the best and most mindblowingly amazing ending in the franchise. How can I say that if its the only one I finished yet?Because its simply the best ending for anything that I have sceen in my existence, including tv shows, movies, and books! Plain and simple. It just takes all the story and gameplay elements of the game and give them a whole new meaning. You could just go watch it on youtube, but you'll highly hate yourself for doing so. Another thing which made the movie crap is the main person is a woman!! Why!? Like aren't there enough mums in horror films already? Women are scared of anything, it takes the horror away from the men. It's always mums in horror films though, rarely ever a dad!

More than half of all horror movies revolve around woman, Alien Series, Resident Evil, etc. Silent Hill has never really stuck to any conventions, it just is. Silent Hill movie, was absolutely one of the best Game-to-movie translations ever done. It had many familiar elements from the games, yet gave you a different story from the games. Fan boys always want there game movies to be the games exact plot.

I know,but there was that part in fort frolic in the iceman part where there's scary music:Pat the time that was the closest thing I had ever played to a survival horror,but since then I've played dead space
An awesome game with revolutionary and original gameplay. Don't judge it until you at least give it the benefit of a play-through. You'll be very surprised to see just how fun a game with no combat system can be!
@Forzaabruzzo I can't really say the game play mechanic is original. The pc indie game penubra included a surivival horror gameplay with little to no way of defending urself from monster due to wii like control on the pc and its mostly a physic puzzle game in 1st person. I recommend u check it out and its on sale on steam.
P.S. the next 2 game in the series remove the combat entirely and it require stealth and fast puzzle solving to survive,
i actually like the no weapons idea give way much more of a scare i play all Penumbras for the PC and in most of those you didn't have weapons but where still fun and scary as hell
i was thinking of buying this for the psp since soon ill be doing a lot of travelling for a few days and ive played all my psp games but im not a big survival horror fan(scariest game i ever played was bioshock:P)but thinking of trying it,should i try it?
As usual, a great Silent Hill game. I hear there's alot of fan boys out there crying about the movie, as well as Homecoming, and I don't see why. I did find this game creepier than Homecoming, but the very first game made about Silent Hill isn't scary at all. I mean, zombie gnomes at Midwich school. Woah I was scared. At any rate just finished the game and it turned out to be alot more than I expected. I end up with a game about psychology. I'm amazed by this game and it calls for replays. Many!
Because the movie (and Homecoming) seem to completely miss the point of what Silent Hill is all about. It just throws Pyramid Head at the screen (who is irrelevant when not talking about Silent Hill 2) and shout "there you go, Silent Hill!".
No, Silent Hill is about the characters, and how the come into the overarching plot, monsters simply being there to screw with them.
Shattered Memories is a great game, and it seems closer to the source material, but it's still missing a few things
Silent Hill Shattered Memories feels like an alternate timeline compared to the original. The story won't connect to Silent Hill 3 since the plot is completly different thanks to the ending I got on the PS2 version. Wii version has better graphics than the PS2. I wish for PC version.
that if im wrong what happens to the 7 year old Cheryl in silent hill one? she turns into ellessa? because im confused the character at the end of silent hill memories that i saw was adult Cheryl aka heather
10 years has past and Cheryl is a teenager. She's the same girl on the tape. The plot is an alternate timeline compared to the original. Harry married Dalia and birth Cheryl. You did find out a reason why therapy questions change how Harry acts during gameplay and the end right.
@djklink20009 OK ok... Cheryl was a reincarnation of alessa because Travis (Origins) interrupted the syramony and allowed the spirt of alessa to split it's self in half. Harry finds Cheryl adopts her following events of one happens, Harry kills Samuel and alessa in her adult form appears and hands harry a baby (Heather) 17 years later silent hill 3 happens (My fave in the sires)

According to the canon plot of silent hill, or whatever we know about it, the possibility of Pyramid head showing himself in other peoples psyches is quite possible.
first off no the point was that he was only to be seen by james they ruined that with homecomming

@ares5566 He's a demon; there's a painting of him in the church at the end of SH3, so unless James paints... Also look at the executioner's hood in the Museum in SH2; that's what pyramid head is (but which came first?).
Also, the movie may have had its own story but it was based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the game's plot. The movie makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and Homecoming doesn't work with the previous game's plots.

@ares5566 First it was not a date it's a rumor and the people making silent hill said briefly about it in an interview for 8 But James was never confirmed dead in fact it was said by the original creators that the players would have to decide by themselves. Harry of course is died T_T. And it was comfirmed that Eileen bleed to death but henry was defested by her death,but escaped. Travis is alive because he was in homecoming, and i already talked about alex. Some say it's coming in fall 2015

Any way the only time i heard that james was in four were they said he went missing. What about 4 were did you here that they comfirmed that.
@SocietyBreaker James was confirmed dead in SH4 when you examine a picture in the living room above the couch, it says something about The superintendents (Mr sunderland) son & Daughter in law went missing in SH & there bodys were never found, if you re call James last name is Sunderland, so The superintendent is most likely James father (or the rebirth ending I guess b/c it seemed like James stayed in SH to try to revive Mary)

@ares5566 this is bullshit. It didnt ruin anything, it is a RE-IMAGINATION not a REMAKE. Yamaoka is awesome as always, the plot is nice, the graphics are great for a Wii, the psychological background is present and well written, the cellphone + interaction with the wiimote is good, and the four endings are entertaining and sad as always. It feels great like any other Silent Hill. No metaphorical background? Lol, you didnt even played it did you?

@HateCoD You are seriously an idiot. Women are scared of anything? More than half of all horror movies revolve around woman, Alien Series, Resident Evil, etc. Silent Hill has never really stuck to any conventions, it just is. Silent Hill movie, was absolutely one of the best Game-to-movie translations ever done. It had many familiar elements from the games, yet gave you a different story from the games. Fan boys always want there game movies to be the games exact plot.

An awesome game with revolutionary and original gameplay. Don't judge it until you at least give it the benefit of a play-through. You'll be very surprised to see just how fun a game with no combat system can be!

@Forzaabruzzo I can't really say the game play mechanic is original. The pc indie game penubra included a surivival horror gameplay with little to no way of defending urself from monster due to wii like control on the pc and its mostly a physic puzzle game in 1st person. I recommend u check it out and its on sale on steam.
P.S. the next 2 game in the series remove the combat entirely and it require stealth and fast puzzle solving to survive,

As usual, a great Silent Hill game. I hear there's alot of fan boys out there crying about the movie, as well as Homecoming, and I don't see why. I did find this game creepier than Homecoming, but the very first game made about Silent Hill isn't scary at all. I mean, zombie gnomes at Midwich school. Woah I was scared. At any rate just finished the game and it turned out to be alot more than I expected. I end up with a game about psychology. I'm amazed by this game and it calls for replays. Many!

Because the movie (and Homecoming) seem to completely miss the point of what Silent Hill is all about. It just throws Pyramid Head at the screen (who is irrelevant when not talking about Silent Hill 2) and shout "there you go, Silent Hill!".
No, Silent Hill is about the characters, and how the come into the overarching plot, monsters simply being there to screw with them.
Shattered Memories is a great game, and it seems closer to the source material, but it's still missing a few things

Silent Hill Shattered Memories feels like an alternate timeline compared to the original. The story won't connect to Silent Hill 3 since the plot is completly different thanks to the ending I got on the PS2 version. Wii version has better graphics than the PS2. I wish for PC version.

10 years has past and Cheryl is a teenager. She's the same girl on the tape. The plot is an alternate timeline compared to the original. Harry married Dalia and birth Cheryl. You did find out a reason why therapy questions change how Harry acts during gameplay and the end right.

@djklink20009 OK ok... Cheryl was a reincarnation of alessa because Travis (Origins) interrupted the syramony and allowed the spirt of alessa to split it's self in half. Harry finds Cheryl adopts her following events of one happens, Harry kills Samuel and alessa in her adult form appears and hands harry a baby (Heather) 17 years later silent hill 3 happens (My fave in the sires)

@ares5566 He's a demon; there's a painting of him in the church at the end of SH3, so unless James paints... Also look at the executioner's hood in the Museum in SH2; that's what pyramid head is (but which came first?).
Also, the movie may have had its own story but it was based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the game's plot. The movie makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and Homecoming doesn't work with the previous game's plots.

with that out of the way the painting showed a guy with a prism cage on his head not pyramidhead also it was a reference to him much like in silent hill origins its not canon only james can see pyramid head and that was made very clear in sh2

@ares5566 First it was not a date it's a rumor and the people making silent hill said briefly about it in an interview for 8 But James was never confirmed dead in fact it was said by the original creators that the players would have to decide by themselves. Harry of course is died T_T. And it was comfirmed that Eileen bleed to death but henry was defested by her death,but escaped. Travis is alive because he was in homecoming, and i already talked about alex. Some say it's coming in fall 2015

@SocietyBreaker James was confirmed dead in SH4 when you examine a picture in the living room above the couch, it says something about The superintendents (Mr sunderland) son & Daughter in law went missing in SH & there bodys were never found, if you re call James last name is Sunderland, so The superintendent is most likely James father (or the rebirth ending I guess b/c it seemed like James stayed in SH to try to revive Mary)

@ares5566 this is bullshit. It didnt ruin anything, it is a RE-IMAGINATION not a REMAKE. Yamaoka is awesome as always, the plot is nice, the graphics are great for a Wii, the psychological background is present and well written, the cellphone + interaction with the wiimote is good, and the four endings are entertaining and sad as always. It feels great like any other Silent Hill. No metaphorical background? Lol, you didnt even played it did you?
