Honestly I am a fan of both genres. Personally i think black metal has a more raw but more feeling in the music. Death metal is just as brutal but it is not very melodic.( Most Black Metal band's arent very melodic either). You cant really compare Death Metal to Black Metal because theyhave different forms of brutality ie Gorgoroth is purely Satanic whereas Cannibal Corpse is purely revolting.
