A really nicely produced video. I am curious about some differences between what I've been taught and the way you demonstrate the kata. As I am learning, 9 starts at haso and sweeps the ground as you turn around and 10 is a strike under the chin. 2,4, and 14 are blocks that are less on top of the head and more out in front and angled to protect more of the body. What do you think is the source of this degree of variation?
I really enjoy your demonstrations, I hope you're able to put more up on Youtube as I feel they are some of the best out there. I've only been learning Aikido for 6 months but very much enjoy Jo training. I pass through Auckland from time to time and hope I'm able to train at your dojo. Thank you for taking the time and effort to put your videos online.
I love this video, but my only criticism is that I personally don't bring the Jo all the way down my back, and my block is more outwards than to the side.
Muito bom video, uma vez que se avalia a beleza da tecnica quando se esta demonstrando à banca examinadora e não a força pois os mesmos não podem senti-la, esse é um privelegio somente do UKE.Esse video ajudara a melhorar muito minha movimentação.
very helpful, thought me how to do it from 21-31,but were i train at 12 we put the jo behind us,is it cause we do it wrong or is it just a different way?
I haven't seen the kata done the way you describe but right or wrong is less important than why. Ask your teacher to explain the purpose for doing it that way. It's fun to learn the choreography but kata is really a format in which to develop qualities consistent with the goals of the rest of your aikido practice, so its good to know what those are for you at the moment.
woah.. hand transition at movement 18 is amazing. one can see from this video that ki is really in the jo. saito sensei is the same.. I can tell he was your teacher..
BEAUTIFUL!!! BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you for post this vid. Saito Sensei goes so fast I can't see it all. All the different angles are wonderful, Thank you again.
Very nice studio
