in my opinion eve sucks, you cant fly the ship by yourself like the fighters in starwars battle front 1-2 Which is wat i expected when i 1st sawa vid of eve i tried the demo and found that out, good graphix but the control scheme sucks i want to pilot the fuckign ships not watch them fly in circles aroudn each other while shooting, i want to take a ship and sit there and open fire on anything i want but nooo u cant

@ShadowReaper072 Most of us would love direct control of our ships in Eve. It would make the game more fun and give us more tactical options in a fight. We don't have it because it would induce MASSIVE lag when you have 1,000+ ships on the grid all under direct player control.

If you play WoW and you like it, Eve isn't for you.

Eve is Excel in space if you do industrial/scientific/market stuff. As an explorer I do use excel to chart wormhole systems I encounter, as there's significant profit to be made from locating unoccupied systems and selling their locations. Mission-runners and pure PVP players don't have much need of spreadsheets, though they will use other tools. Any MMO with any kind of depth will result in players using other programs to assist them.

I wish they'd put actual animations of ships' destruction in there with wreckage flying away from the ship. Like, frigate-sized ships exploding like grenades, and larger ships are seen exploding and half and floating apart

I never was a true fan of metal, but damn...... very nice vid, went well with the music which was also epic.

Might start playing Eve online but I'm hesitating because I know it takes time to reach a point where you can experience epic battles like the ones presented here in this vid. Is there anything your character/ship can do while the player is offline?

I plan to try EVE. I've always had a guilty pleasure for Space Games, from Elite to X3, I think EVE might be what I'm looking for.

Tell me, what are the ingame politics like? Is the economy player controlled, are their any player owned factions fighting for supremacy and territory?

On top of Space Sims I'm a big fan of games like Tribal Wars, and the player run politics is just so fun. :)

@Shodex4 economy is player controlled (mostly), there are corporations (like guilds in WoW) and alliances of multiple corporations and territories they control. i doubt a 2 week trail is enough for someone to appreciate the game though..

No Raven uses 8 guns as it in this vid, they shoot missiles if somebody doesn't know. According to camouflage this ships god they are NPCs. Stop stop confusing those who doesn't know :)

Great vid dude, makes a change to all the "PvP Heroes" of EVE. Great angles of some mean ships. Only thing that lets it down (not your fault that is) is the explosions. Battleships explode just as fast as Frigates, they should really slowly explode, fire coursing under the armour then bursting out, consuming the ship in flames. Apart from that, freakin sweet.

I never really did like eve, seemed too much point and click and the other guy goes boom. sure you have those abilities like the sheild boosters and energy drainers, yet for me, the joy in a space battle is that 2 ships end up in a deadly dance for dominance, each trying to maximize damage to one area of a ship while spreading damage on their own. That to me is skill, not just managing abilities, but your ship as a whole.

@theUndert0ker tbh i think eve sux, but its just so damn addicting, the pve, mixed with the graphics makes dozens of uber-sights, even if you dont hava camera, if you just sat and look at something, looking at ships from about 500m away, (the biger ones of course) they look like movies, or posters, the pvp is complicated, and those who dont pvp, dont play the game, wuts the fun of just mining all your life?

hmm it's that high-stakes gambling kind of addiction. you might have disposable time to waste spending getting new ships and stuff after you lose it, but i can't see how any reasonable person would consider that grind fun. all forms of grinding suck and eve makes you work really hard to get that money.

Heh yeah everyone gets something different out of eve. I enjoy slow paced pve gameplay with rl friends. PVP does bad things to people in this game.  It turns them into sociopaths, IMO.

Eve has fleet battles at times of up to 1000 ships at the same time, most computers can hardly pull that as it is at lowest gfx settings everything optimised. The last thing you want is mandatory extra stuff to process.

Basicly every video of EVE pvp you see on youtube is unscripted, all player ships. The only exeption I can think of off the top of my head is the Butteryfly Effect movie.
