@Quran1111 hehe - u serious brother? qari abdul basit looked up to Sheikh Mustafa Ismail (25 years older than Basit). Sheikh Mustafa Ismail has been unanimously agreed by ulama as the greatest and most influential reciter of the 20th century. plz check out surah shams on my page, from 1947. ws
@heyemaker totally disagree with you my brother. I havent heard alot of Sheikh Rifat but Abdul basit is incomparable. great voice, flawless voice control truly a legend
@Abba02 fair enough. Everyone has their own choice of who their favourite reciters are. I like listening to the old classical Qurra, such as most of the ones on quranarchive(DOT)org. Mustafa Ismail has a way of his own, Mustafa Ismail is capable of communicating with the listeners throughout his recitation (he does this throughout his recitation, thats why his listeners enjoy so much listening to him). He is definately one of the most intelligent reciters when it comes to recitation.
@Abba02 As for Muhammad Rif'at, I personally have named him "The Soul Reciter". Reason being, while listening to him, you can see how much he recites from his soul, and you can literally feel his heart pouring out to you so much through out his recitation. When he is in his high registers, you can see he understands the verse, and he interprets the verses with his voice. He is the Magnificent Reciter. I can see what kind of a muslim and person he is, just by listening to his Angelic Voice.
Allahoe Akbar, Good Lord,what a sweet voice he has, look at the way he ends the verse, most beautiful Qafalat-endings...in diffirent Qira'aat, His voice goes straight to my heart....he is the Number 1. May Allah Grant him Paradise and reward him for his effort in performing the recitation of the Holy Quran in such a beautiful way...

I thought Muhammad Rif'at was matchless and should not be compared to any other reciter.
