  • now you can use the force

  • i knew the sdk has been around fr a bit i might dive into some hacks :)

    Thanks for the inspiration

  • got #screens nice setup i could tell right away you had intelligence

  • esta muy bueno

  • Chuck Norris approves

  • Mac Gaver only needs a strick and a condom !!

  • one way to master this. HAND TUTTING!!!

  • i download your project.

    how start it?

  • thats so amazing. im speachless..

  • Amazing, I think microsoft should start working on something like this.

  • watch?v=TR3-_wDDoS0

  • I feel like if this had proper financial and developmental backing it could really be something special. If only microsoft had the innovation and hutzpah to pursue and perfect the potential of the technology... alas, they dont even fully realize it with gaming (for example, working in the motion tech with controller based games to give an added dimension to play. Like hand signs for FPS's, etc.). All they see it as, though, is as an opportunity to one up Nintendo. It's sad.

  • TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!

  • i wonder if you used more than one kinect you could get the computer to know where points were in a 3D computation, thus allowing you to point at what you want?

  • In the future Koreans will be playing Starcraft while using this.

  • Bullshit! This level of precision is not nearly enough even to move windows and find the process satisfactory, so what are you talking about!? We are many years away from this replacing a mouse (if you're sane).

  • @Clarensee Lol. This was an independent project, A.K.A. Made by one person. If we can reach that level of precision with one person using tools that are readily available, we're very close to having an additional way of computer input, though we likely won't be replacing the mouse any time soon.

  • @Clarensee That's kinda ignorant, he's really a genius who's showing off a tool from a gaming console that has the potential to allow awesome gestures to replace certain functions. Sure it's not super practical, but a lot of people could get a lot from it, not to mention his gestures are awesome.

    Dive in!(zoom)

    Force!(window grab)

  • @Clarensee have you looked at other stuff o youtube? they made a simulator for BF3 and skyrim. Those years are closer than you think

  • I am constantly impressed by human ingenuity.

  • The real reason people make fun of nerds is because we're secretly terrified of their unnatural, almost godlike control over machines.

  • When he said 'those are the parts that work right', did anyone check the video time and wonder if we were getting another 4 minutes of things that don't?

  • I bet you can play some sweet flight and driving simulators on that set-up.

  • We have own solution for Gesture Recognition Interface with Stereo Camera.

We don't use prime sense solution as laser sensor.

Our New solution doesn't have Calibration step and Skeleton that mean it is easy to apply any general purpose usage.

    Get in my place!!

  • Neat but he should get out more

  • @sutol226 You are retarded.

  • I think he die, I die watching this

  • Failll... Nice try tho

  • many displays ... :]

  • Fortunately it works flawless

  • retarded

  • He's got the swordfish setup.

  • im going to get a cheesburger this better be top comment when i get back

  • Whoa, using quite a lot of energy of manipulate the interface. The mouse is more superior for now.

  • I personally would love to see it interfaced with other hardware that would limit real movement on virtual collision. Expensive to develop, but if you could mimic grasping or touching a solid object with say.. a glove with hydraulic joints to offer resistance.. based off of the 3d input from the camera.. think of the levels of interactivity you could achieve. Game immersion would be incredible-- actually gripping that gun, rope, sword, or doorknob on the screen etc..

  • This technology is way more powerful than people are realizing at this point. When the processing power (or code streamlining) gets to the point where the latency is unnoticeable, you could get some really really useful functions out of being able to track individual hand and finger joints. Not just for gaming applications, though those are the most interesting to me personally. Imagine such fine control as tying a virtual string into a knot...

  • This is the future and it is amazing. This had to take a while to program.

  • ITS ARI FORM HEAVY RAIN!

  • that looks frustrating

  • People are already using the kinect to play wow

  • Those are the parts that work right?!?! What?

  • Windows? Really? When the video started, I thought you were smart..

  • this was 6 mins of my life waisted watching this guy talk and try getting his kinect working

  • He says lockergnome#net yet the water mark says LockerGnome#com

THIS IS MADDNESS (insert refrence here)

  • Shit, now I have to find the aveslp comment.

  • Awesome and u could maby use a sylist like Tony stark ironman 1

  • Brilliant! Thanks for all your work!

  • Today, this...tomorrow, Minority Report!

  • i will never use this technology for a computer moving hands to control things on a screen using a kinect is not for me i will stay using the mouse and keyboard until i die thank you its good for videgames it gets into the game but computers hell no

  • not to be rude, but your voice and looks like seth rogan FTW

  • I was staring at how many computers you had this hole time....

  • i think this looks so far so fail MOVE is kinda better

  • very good man, work on it more and maybe you can control your house, lol....seriously.

  • A mouse seems so much easier

  • seem unbelievable lolz

  • If this was holographic.... STAR WARS BECAME REALITY

  • dude PLEASE tell me where you got your background.

  • awww do i HAVE to thave windows to do this?

  • nice NERD!!! XD

  • Nice one but will it be able to do all the minute things that can be done with mouse?

    Plz explain

  • Where can I get that Background?

  • I see IRONMAN HOLO-PC

  • you look like a nerdy forrest griffin bro

  • Woo Now we can have everyone stop complaining about not exercising and using a computer.

  • @AbazOhan actually it's 6 monitors, most likely controlled by a single computer

  • omg fuck sake, i want to go 2o years into the future NOW PLEASE

  • When do you ever need 6 computers?

  • @AbazOhan nope just multiple screen connected to a 3 duo video card

  • The only thing that will ever replace a mouse is something that can read your mind and do what your mind wants.

  • LOL @ Those are the parts that actually work right!

  • How to hack skynet

  • O may god! What the shit ??? Looks like Vista :)

  • Looks pretty cool, but personally I would rather have a touch screen; but would definitely like to try something like this once it works a bit better.

  • But I have a mac :(

Still, have fun with your kinectstuffs.

  • Your title for the video is very misleading. You didn't hack the kinect hardware, but seem to be programming for the actual hardware, which microsoft already released SDK for, so where is this "hack"? The means to hack something is to improve it, either been hardware, or software, when none of these things are present, there is no hacking. Make sure to be clear to what you're doing, so people know what they're watching. Thank you.

  • 6 monitors??? Thats awesome!!!

  • And then some asshole standing outside looking trough the windows deleting your files when you are not home.

  • @TheMastaGlazy loololol thx i needed that

  • Present as you try to close quickly a porn when mum has come into a room:DDDD the skill Is necessary!

  • You should use a pair of gloves with markers so that the kinect can detect them and you could probably have more precise actions (Like a fore hand and backhand gestures)

  • Thats one badass nerd!

  • that's probably one of the coolest thing's ive seen in a while

  • Awesome, but I'm using my mouse and keyboard for now.

  • Cool stuff!

  • i dont understand.. does he have 6 DVI ports? i dont know a videocard on the market that supports that. Anyone have an answer?

  • @Evansmustard The 5870 can, any card as of today can display up to 6 monitors, I think you need splitters or something.

  • @Evansmustard They have mini display ports. Some new cards have different inputs in order to support multiple monitors.

  • Got enough monitors?

  • you really are a virigin

  • @henrikroxs wow.. you're behind your computer hating on people. what a loser.

  • WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY

  • THAT'S A BIG ASS WALLPAPER

  • @DisneysBlam un fonde de pantalla (:

  • I don't think that this sort of interface will ever become dominant over a mouse. While it is COOL and has an application somewhere (and I believe the Kinect to be a rather breakthrough device) the speed and precision I have with a mouse (not to mention only having move my wrist slightly rather than swing my arms around) makes a mouse a superior form of input. As a tech demo, though, this is excellent and I'm looking to see how far people take Kinect hacking.

  • I can has your computer and monitors... O_o screw the jumbo tron I want that!

  • MAN HE STOLE MY IDEA O WELL I HOPE THIS WORKS

  • A great weeks worth of work on your free time.

  • we can do it, we have the technology..

  • Cool idea just dosent work i would raher have a mouse and keyboard fuck touch devices they are rewining pc's

  • you sure don't have enough monitors, lol!

  • Dude amazing. Keep up the good work.

  • Do you have enough monitors? lol

  • 65 people don't have hands

  • lol nerd

  • i like you beard

  • watching porn will be AMAZING

  • This is just a tech demo showing what is possible... and it is awesome.

  • wowzas

  • all i know is apple will probably attempt to steal this

  • Looking fine! Can't wait for a beta or final build!

  • You know they ain't gonna take you more seriously if you glue them on to your face ;-). Oh and don't take yourself so seriously, you could hurt yourself

On a more serious note, it does not seem to work... but well done for putting in the time&effort.

  • @raritzu - You can always tweak the code now that he's shared it.

  • @raritzu you realise that not everything works perfectly when your IN THE PROCESS of making things... guess what Black ops didnt work perfectly (in my opinion still doesnt) windows, OS X didnt work perfectly when they make first make the OS... guess what sometimes on kinect for kinect xbox games it doesnt always respond exactly how you want it to.... guess what kinect wasnt made for this in mind... guess what your a moron

  • @bradfordbulls4lyf I am not even going to dignify that idiotic / barely-English sentence mate.

  • @raritzu i'll make it more simple for you. Not everything works perfectly when someone...still with me... firsts make something. and your a moron

  • @bradfordbulls4lyf Who asked your opinion, you imbecile? You can barely string two words together, and now you are trying to explain some idiotic point that you got yourself tangled into. I give you a friendly advice: grow up, learn English, and don't try to give advice in a field that it is beyond your intellectual development. I did notice that arguing is a habit of yours on the internet, and I suggest you get a life, I am not wasting any more of my time anymore on you... byeeee

  • @raritzu barely string two words together. Hello World. was that two words, yes, yes it is and only someone (no joke i am being serious here) who has a mental problem/deficiency can not understand the point i am trying to make. where do you get your suspicions that i have a habit of arguing on the internet... unless O_o.. sorry i was told to not talk to people like you in the real world or cyber space. goodbye

  • now this ladies and gentlemen is going to be the technology of 2014 maybe earlier, konect is just an experiment... to see how we would react and what tweaks Microsoft needs to work on ;).... but beware Microsoft. people like this dude can bring it out cheaper... maybe for free and you will loose your brilliant ideas,... psht they want even read this.

  • @mangoz69a - That's what I say. :)

  • get it to work first and then show it off

  • @YuryArutyunov im guessing this was released to us , just to let us know what is capable of happening,

  • This isn't a how-to or a hack. The SDK is open now.

  • Great work, will be awesome for home theatre pcs

  • @Maxi86SZ Some ATI video cards have the possibility to control 6 monitors at once at 1080p resolution. But you can also use SLI or CrossFireX if you don't have those super special ATI cards. (I think there isn't any nVidia video card that can do that.)

  • looks good, but still quite useless imho

  • @kulhajs

You will be using this style of control before you know it.

  • Awesome, Great Idea!!! Keep it moving People!

  • is it just me or is that computer really loud? lol

  • @darklabz87 - It would have to be to keep up with those screens. :)

  • @lockergnome screens are almost idle

  • @lockergnome mine runs 12 screens, but I'm cool and use water cooling :D

  • WOW Awesom!!!

  • Nice work. Thanks for putting in the time.

  • wow, looks very promising!

btw how do you get six screens working together like that?!?

does it work well for watching movies (1080p)?

I'm wondering how expensive that might be....

  • Holly shitttt man.... nice screen.

  • Obviously it's still very buggy, but this is only with a week's work. Pretty impressive!

  • @aveslp - And open source!

  • Excellent proof of concept!

  • doesn't work to well now, but i'm sure you can perfect it!

  • OMG tht is soooooo koool

  • I love the 6 monitor set up its freaking sick!!!!!!!!

  • MATISYAHU

  • its not hacking if youre using an sdk to make your setup work

  • hes making me sleepy zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • hes making me sleepy

  • this is cool but, its like 1000000000 x easier to just use a mouse :S

  • @tweekxxx Maybe someone cant afford a mouse :3

  • if win 8 dont have this this world will blow

  • bla bla bla bla get to the point

  • yea will we need it for mac... FTW!

  • Mirosoft, please release a monitor with webcam, microphone and kinect built in. Please make Windows 8 FULLY integrate with this

  • do it on linux

  • An awesome idea you got there.

  • Disclaimer: Do not operate in Compton area, hand gestures may be confused as gang signs resulting in death by gun fire.

  • why do you have so many moniters

  • NOW WE CAN USE THE FORCE TO MOVE WINDOWS

  • @AZdarpiAZ - I was using the force before. :)

  • @AZdarpiAZ thats sick

  • @AZdarpiAZ AND CHOKE BLUESCREENS! -"Your lack of cooperation disturbs me..."

  • @AZdarpiAZ WOW! i'm gonna try this now!!

    HNNNNNNGGHHHH

    *smash*

erm.... this did not go to plan xD

  • Awesome, so its like using the force to move windows

  • Is it possible to be productive with six screens? At what point does it become unproductive?
