The Rocketeer - "I finally played a scene with Neville Sinclair"

I know she prevented it twice, but what if Neville kept on trying to kiss Jenny? I mean Jenny was acting to lead him on. She teased him twice, but what if Neville kept attempting to kiss her? You really think she would have found an escape route or would she have to eventually give in and kiss him?

I have 2 questions.

1.)If Cliff did not show up to that club, how would the evening of Jenny and Neville concluded? Would she have hooked up with Sinclair that night?

2.)When Jenny was at Sinclair's place, would she have let Neville kiss her if he didn't spew those movie lines?

I have a question too. If Cliff didn't show up, would Neville have a reason to drug Jenny? Would she have consented to go back to his mansion anyway? Hmmm...

2. I think she was smart enough to know he was playing her. She was going along with his act so she could incapacitate him somehow.

Neville wouldn't have drugged Jenny if Cliff didn't show up. Jenny would have fallen for Sinclair that night IMO. She would have gone back to his mansion I bet. They would have made love and become a couple. Cliff's appearance to the club is what prevented Jenny from cutting him off and being with Neville.

I liked her in "Dark City", too. Man, who *didn't* want to be her boyfriend when this came out?!

I have a bare bones copy, but I wish they could release like a special edition DVD with commentary, extras, featurettes, the whole nine yards - it would be awesome! Such an underrated film - I loved it as a kid too. :-)

At this time, Jennifer Connelly looked like a sweet, innocent, virginal goddess. What man wouldn't have fought Sinclair for her?

After this movie, though, something happened. She went from Connelly the adorable starlet to Connelly the anorexic vegan feminist Hollywood celebrity.

It ruined her for me and a lot of other guys. I haven't been able to watch her in anything else since then.

That's why The Rocketeer is so special a movie for me: the bloom was still on the rose. :)

Totally agree! The next movie I saw after this with her in it was Higher Learning, and I remember thinking, "WTF?!?"

It seems that Connelly will never be as beautiful as she was back when this movie was made. She never looked the same after this movie. It's like she went on an anorexic kick or something.

For a while there she was making strange film choices too IMO (Higher Learning, Inventing the Abbotts, Dark City, Mulholland Falls). I agree, though. Looks like the Hollywood machine got to her and told her she was "too fat", it seems.

I remember seeing The Rocketeer in the theater opening weekend in 1991. I was only 10 and this scene was the raciest thing I had ever seen up to that point LOL. It's still a hot scene IMO.
