  • RIP Richard Hunt!!!!

  • This is the only time I'm aware of in which Sonny Friendly isn't a total dud.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. This was also Sonny Friendly's very first appearance, so his charachter hadn't really evolved yet. After this he would become a gameshow host that would offer worthless prizes. haha

  • Really? This was his first appearance? I didn't know that.

  • Sesame Street Elmo Kevin Clash Sonny Friendly Richard Hunt Big Bird Carroll Spinney Snuffleupagus Martin P.Robinson Grudgetta Pam Arcino 1980s

  • lol

  • I remember this episode very well. I actually liked Elmo very much. His voice was slightly different compared to now. Of course this was way, waaaayyy before Elmo stole the spotlight with that 20 minute "Elmo's World" segment.

  • jonnytbirdzback, I have a question about the closing scene of this episode: I heard the the words CHILDREN'S TELEVISION WORKSHOP appear at the bottom of the screen as SS by CTW is being announced. is this true?

  • I'm thinking this might've been Sonny Friendly's very first appearance.

  • WOW!!! Thank you Mr. jonnytbird! I've remembered this one lo these many years, and have spent the last eight and a half minutes finding out that my memories were very accurate! Are you missing the beginning and ending, though? I remember the ending---Oscar at first is grateful for what Grungetta said about him, but then starts accusing her of being nice to him.

  • I remember this one. This was back when Oscar was Telly's best friend, before the days of Baby Bear. Probably one of Sonny Friendly's earliest appearances as well.

  • True enough that Telly always used to hang around Oscar, but I think of the Telly/Baby Bear pairing as more of a replacement for the Telly/Juliet pairing. Which, basically, is going for a neurotic/cool-headed pair instead of a neurotic/neurotic pair.

  • I remember the beginning when Oscar was complaining about his TV not working properly, and he had Bob hold his antenna out in the middle of the street, and a car nearly strikes him. Bob then demands that Oscar holds his own antenna.
