I have this same radio dubbed as CC-1012 Livstar, this one has an excellent sensitivity and selectivity. It costed less than US$ 6.00 locally. But I have also tested another cheap made in china and the majority on SW are very poor.
If you're a die hard DXer looking for weak signal reception, you simply won't use this as it's easy to overload with strong signals, frequency is too broad and hard to tune. There's lots of AM images on certain parts of the shortwave spectrum, and the frequency dial is not accurate.
But for beginners or casual listeners on the AM and Shortwave bands, this is okay.
FM is quite sensitive and passed my criteria for low cost entry bargain portables.
i overheard that during at night, the am reception is good than during daytime, this is because at night, the stratosphere lowers because of cold temperature and therefore the radio am and shortwaves are reflected back to earth more effectively than daytime
i just bought one on eBay ^.^

One of the worst Shortwave radios I ever had...

I was looking at one these radio's. Could you show another video of the AM and shortwave bands?
The shortwave band gets better reception at night.
