i wouldnt rev the engine like that right after you start it, it hasnt really build oil presure yet, doing this constantly will cause it to burn oil, plus jaguars are not reliable...so be careful

In Uk spec (95 RON petrol), the S-type is 238bhp, the X is 231. The X has less bacause the exhaust manifolds have to be smaller due to the smaller engine bay, and the fact the V6 is transverse in the X.

The S-Type uses the same 3.0 V6 as the X-Type but has been tweeked to give it a few more ponies as the S-Type is a bigger car.

Yes it is a Ford Mondeo engine, but why is that bad? Ford have made some very good engines in the past. The Cosworth YBB was based around a Pinto lump, then theres the 2.9 Cosworth, Focus 2.0 RS and ST170 which are all good engines.

The primary engineering input came from Porsche, who were developing a similar V6 before selling the engineering to Ford, and Cosworth, who helped with cylinder head manufacturing. Erm - the Rover 75 is a superior car. The 75 is also bigger, cost more to develop and doesn't share a floorpan or interior bits with a Ford Mondeo. Its generally agreed the X-type is a runt of the litter and sells poorly.

The rover 75 is pants, took a 3k miles demo one out, cos i nearly bought one.

It rattled banged and squeaked it's way down the road, had the fit and finish of a sliced loaf, the 2.5 V6 sounded like a strangled chicken cross boat diesel engine. It was slow as hell, has a fucking great big slab of black plastic around the windown controls, and all feels naff to the highest degree. It also has a pinched arse.
