One day one of my friends from Andhra explained me the meaning of the lyrics of this "Javali". He was wonderstruck how the Maharaja was not only managed to compose a Javali in Telugu, but used the typical colloquial style so authentically, without ever visiting the areas where people use these phrases! Prince Rama Varma explained beautifully well the meaning and style before rendering it so well ! "Saindhavi" is not a commonly used raga. Thank you for uploading this gem of a Javali.
@Rasikaas Evidence shows that Swathi Thirunal composed a varna in
Tamil set to Kalyani Raga, Adi Tala. Dr. S. Ramanathan, the famous musician and musicologist, got this varna from the private collection of Ettayapuram King. It reads as “Saami unnaye nan mikavum nambinene”. Mudra figures in the Anupallavi as Kamalanabha and Sri Kulasekhara Rajendra.
Wow!! That brief explanation made it so much more enjoyable. I would love to hear more of his talks. they are so enlightening. Lovely voice!I am tempted to choreograph it :-)
