@whoisthisguy724 in some regions of the U.S. they are fire dept. audible alert sirens, in other regions they are commonly tornado sirens, public warning sirens, etc.
Ah, the sound I grew up to hearing every day/every other day! I miss hearing that thing! It got blown over (tower and all) during Hurricane Hugo in 1989. :(

Do they use this siren for fire calls?
gatrwrks 3 months ago
@gatrwrks I do believe that alert is for weather warnings and attack is for fire calls

Sounds sorta like a 2001, but better, especially the wind-down. I guess this is the only Model 5 in Hall County?

@LouisvilleTorn8o There's one more in the county, which is in Grand Island. watch?v=GQwhBBts4TQ

@MrSciencetificsasuke I know its a tornado siren. My grandma calls tornado sirens "tornado whistles"

@97Siren really, they work on the same concept as a whistle, really. Force air through a small gap really fast to create sound.

do they use the attack signal as an "all clear" ? or they use it for warnings as well?
amtrak3501 8 months ago
@amtrak3501 Not for all clear. We don't have all clear. They use attack for non-weather emergencies.
antiwhoknows 8 months ago
@antiwhoknows how close, looks like 5-10 feet, or r you zoomed in.
shorttman1968 8 months ago
It's funny how much each windup makes the siren shake.
Ouranos94 8 months ago
O_O , it could use the bearings though, it does have a slight hiccup .
Droideka133 8 months ago
After listening to it, sounds like it could use a set of bearings. It's got pretty good hiccup in the wind down on every cycle.
