Elliot trained at the Boston school of music. The Cars were awesome, but it was more awesomely crafted songs there that really worked well live. I think he did this because as a guitarist, it's tough not to start playing when a CCR song is on....he didn't need the $, and I think he just wanted to go on the road again.....
Heard the drummer, Doug Clifford, describe Elliot Easton as a "monster". He was right! I grew up with The Cars songs but had no idea Elliot was so good. :)
