I'm not sure if this is "award worth" but my friend works for a furniture store in their warehouse (where I used to be supervisor so I definatly know the rules) and he tried to lift a desk weighing maybe 400 pounds. When something is that big your supposed to use a dolly or something. He used his hands, permantly damaged it, and sued for $92,000 and won.

It was a nice rant and all and I think it is totally valid. I'm sure a couple of those people that you mentioned set up the situations in the first place, so they could be considered smart (or just sneaky) for raping the system for their own benefit.
But I guess I'm stupid because I found the term that you mentioned offensive.
