  • One thing I hate roofers do, they will track, so they speed up the process faster. This is the worst thing you can do.

  • Cool vid man, I know nothing about roof repair and this was a fun intro to the good bit of homework I have ahead of me

  • @tooldudetony Thanks for the cool and entertaining video tips! Also, I disagree with magic6403's comment above about the sound effects being stupid. I like the way you use but don't over-use the sound effects. (He's probably one of those guys with no sense of humor.) Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to post such helpful and interesting videos...

  • another question. this type of repair like you did in the video, can be done whether wet or dry correct? obviously using the proper sealant/tar to work with the moisture

    thanks again

  • @linxcod --- This can be done either wet or dry. In this repair, it had rained after I had stripped the roof. I did what I could to prevent leakage during the storm. You are correct, the appropriate sealer must be used if the roof is wet.

  • what kind of caulking is that? and can you use that leak repair tar instead?

  • @linxcod - The clear stuff is roof sealant and the black stuff is roof leak tar. I could have used the tar wherever I used the clear sealer. It is up to you.

  • I love this guy! He's hysterical! Plus, he's got some useful tips. Thanks for the help and the laughs Tony :)

  • what was wrong with the old lead pipe boot?

  • @ThesuperBoss2011 - Nothing functionally on top, but after being roofed a couple of times, it had a lot of nail holes around the base. That's why I installed the plastic/rubber boot over it. The issue with lead is now it is considered hazardous material. If you handle it, wear gloves. Thanks

  • You could do away with the supid sound effects it take away for video

  • @magic6403 - Good suggestion. I'm not doing that any more. Thanks

  • Nice, thanks for the info.

  • Thanks Tony, for anyone to help people learn how to take care of the things we need to fix is really cool. Like the knowledge.

Single mom in charge of fixing things.

  • Thanks so much! We're going into a house that fire fighters had to cut a whole into the roof n I got a lot of work I've never done ahead of me!!!! Thanks Again!

  • You're funny and yet instructive. Good production!

I have a couple of spot leaks and my vents -gas furnace and heater- are leaking as well. The roof is 12/12... 45 degrees and 25 feet high! I'm sure I can repair these leaks, but I'm scared to death of the pitch! Any suggestions besides making sure I have a good health insurance?

  • @gennaterra - I've seen guys with harnesses like you would use for rock climbing on steep roofs like that. Even then, I'd seriously consider hiring someone else to do it.

Does anyone else have a good suggestion?

  • tool dude you're awesome bro

  • @torawfodiz - About $300 is all.

  • how much did it all cost u

  • nice video...my roof is really high but its leaking badly cant afford 14000 2 have fixed...im not scared of heights but im worried its not stable

  • Great video dude !!

  • been roofing myself for 13 years and enjoyed watching and even laughed at the end even though you sat on a nail ouch but nice job on your roof cool vid

  • thanks for the info! i have a leaky roof, but hard to tell where coming from; total of about 4 leaks in 5'x20' overhang over porch. should i replace the whole thing?

  • The best way to stop water getting into your home is to stop paying the water bills. I had a problem with water pouring into my house through taps and showers, i stopped paying the bills and they dont leak at all now, I turn the taps on now and everything stays nice and dry, no flooding water getting through. Happy days.

  • Best to use fiberglass shingles. 6 nails, NOT 4 per sheet

  • nice video man.. my grandpa in nursing home and my grandma at home by herself now with a leaky roof with missing shingles. proffesionals want to charge about 7k to redue whole roof. i think now i can get a crew and get it done way cheaper thanks to your vid..

  • Excellent use of the leaf blower. Great video!

  • IM A BETER ROOFER THAN U BUDDYY

  • @MIKEYDBOY16 --- I'll bet you are. But I'm not a roofer, I'm just a homeowner who fixes stuff on the weekend.

    Have a good one!

  • @MIKEYDBOY16 I don't see you teaching nobody...

  • dude nice one on the read between the lines for the insurance company

  • how much did it cost to fix this? i have a leaky roof.

  • @invalidacess forgot to mention its a small porch like roof. kinda like a small-medium size room.

  • All together it was about $500. To hire it out would have been over a thousand.

Good luck with your roof. Be safe.

  • @tooldudetony my roof is for a storage room. its about small-medium size, so would that be less? als its not connected to to the house.

  • wow, you should have your own show on home improvement channel or something :)

  • Thanks.... That would be cool. I appreciate the support.

  • Thanks dude. My dads in the hospital from a stroke and no one can help mend leak on roof. So Im using this vid to help my mom out

  • Sorry about your Dad. I hope it all works out okay for him. Just be careful up there and take your time.
