And colonies can still have new in the name, because new hampshire, new york, new jersey, etc, were all previous places, but they named the colonies as such. mecca can also mean "A place that is regarded as the center of an activity or interest," which is what it was.

This movie was extremely boring, not scary in the slightest degree and featured Vin Diesel as one of the most annoying, unlikeable, evil heroes I have seen in a movie. He walks around like a grunting ape throughout the movie mumbling his dialogue.

i hated how in pitch black they talked of earth, france, and had baseball caps then in chronicles, it was like everything just disappeared that relates back to earth. i found it really out of place. i prefer the pitch black approach

Hey lyriclex, in The Chronicles of Riddick, he finds the circumstances surrounding his birth weren't what he thought. Now he's going to have to re-think his whole world-view... what a pain!

Neither the book nor the movie goes into detail, though. It's not certain whether he doesn't remember cuz he was so little, or cuz it was traumatic, or he DOES remember but he doesn't reminisce about it cuz tough guys don't talk about when they were little bitty kids.
