you can play warcraft2 (tides of darkness and beyond the dark portal) with dosbox, but i think you can play it without too. Warcraft 2 battle net edition can not be played with dosbox.

yes the dungeon were very nice, and heros had an specific grafik (lothar par example) Water Elementals and Daemons were the beste units, ok the balance was not the best but you have an war unit editor to make your own balance,

i love Warlocks (play warlock in WOW) and the were so extemly overpowered in Teil 1

2 was a great improvement, But warcraft 1 had allot of distinct stuff in single player. You didn't have daemons and water elemental summons,The conjurers and warlocks were gone. Lothar in wc1 was unique in appearance , In WC2X you cant tell heroes apart from regular units unless you click on them.

Wc1 had dungeon missions with NPC monsters, thats were Ogres first appeared, They required way more thought and strategy then starcrafts installation missions. Although limited Grouping and pathing problems were a headache in both games, The gimmick of having to build walkways before you could build anything was retarded.

A good tip for this game is, if you want to defend your area, build a farm in front of the guard towers, because farms are more durable than towers, meaning you will kill the enemy without the towers taking damage.
