The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust is a registered charity based on Dartmoor, we support and work with Dartmoor farmers who breed top quality Dartmoor Ponies. All our farmers are committed to a sensible breeding programme and only breeding sufficient foals to provide replacement stock for the commons. Any additional colts and fillies are handled prior to castration if appropriate and sold for a sensible price to good equine homes.
Our pony keepers pride themselves on their welfare standards and have a genuine love of the ponies they keep. To learn more about this select group of pony breeders - please contact the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Visitor and Education Centre on 01626 833234
Quite a few of those mares would pass for pure breds ; is there a registration scheme to improve the ones on the moors and bring them into the stud book ? There should be, seeing as they are rare now. Great video, reminded me of Bampton Fair as a child.
