Zapiekanka - Polish Baked Baguette

oh i love this dish and i really want to make it.but the problem occurs with this baguette part.what if we can not find it readymade.so, stop thinking about this delicious zapiekanka or you have an alternate?help

And zapiekanka is singular word but zapiekanki is plural word. So there is no male version of this word just female version "zapiekanka" - hope it helps :)

I've made this at a party food a couple times and people usually love it. The one change I make is that I slice the baguette right in half along the middle so that the onions, green peppers, etc. don't fall out when it's cut up into pieces. I must not be using enough cheese to get these things to stick together O_o

Jest tysiąc innych polskich potraw, które bardziej nadają się na wizytówkę polskiej kuchni, niż zapiekanka z budki na dworcu. A tak poza tym, to zrób sobie wycieczkę krajoznawczą i zobaczysz, że zapiekanki w różnych miejscach różnią się składem. To może najpierw zacznij od opie..olu naszych rodzimych "szefów kuchni".

I ostatnia rzecz, po zobaczeniu takiego wpisu, będą mówić, że Polacy to skur.... bez kultury, i nikt nawet nie będzie chciał zapiekanki próbować.

It's really great that you presented to your viewers a recipe for zapiekanka - thank you:) Zapiekanka was invented to be done very fast, by one person only on very small cooking space and lot's of them are sold daily. That's why they are way less complicated in Poland.

The recipe is very easy: you pan fry or dry the mushrooms in the oven and then put them on the half of baguette. Then you place the chesse on top and it's ready to bake:) When it's hot we put a line of ketchup on the top. Voila!

What Pasta Sous?? Yes we put ketchap on the "zapiekanak", I have never eaten zapiekanka with pasta sous. What more we have never mixed up mashrooms with onion and green bell pepper. The traditional "Zapiekanak": baguette, mashroom, cheese, and if someone likes ketcham.

Yes, the traditional zapiekanak is delicious but this is "Show Me The Curry" so we had to put a little twist to it. Hope you try it this way as a variation to the authentic version. :)

Such culinary improvisation, I have not seen, if you talk about zapiekanki. A good zapiekanka, is above all, a good baguette, mushrooms fried in butter and good cheese. To the top, of course, any sauce. And this is a good zapiekanka. The rest is improvisation:) Cheers ... One more thing. The part in this video about "if you're male you call it a zapiekanki(male) and if you're female you call it a zapiekanka(female) not correct. The part about it being called different things in different parts is wrong. The only important thing to mention, is that if you're talking about many of these baked snacks, you say "zapienkanki" no matter what gender you are, and if you only are referring to one, you say "zapienkanka", no matter where you are or what gender you are.

"zapiekanka" is singular form, "zapiekanki" plural :)

original zapiekanka is fried mushrooms (cold) mixed in food processor with FRESH (!!) white onion (not prefried) and chesse + salt & pepper. don't mix it to puree - just to join the ingrediens and stop when the texture is grainy. then you coat the french baguette with mushroom/onion/cheesy paste and bake it for a few minutes. When it's ready you put fresh veggies on top (tomatos, cucumber, lettuce, pickles ect.) + ketchup & mayo.

it's not polish with all those spices and tomato sauce, the onion and mushroom should be seasoned with pepper and salt in a traditional way, and it's a french baguette that give all the taste, u can't replace it with a spongy bread even if u bake it to make it crunchy coz it taste different. Anyway I like it as a variation of the traditional recipe, it's just not polish anymore, thx for all amazing receipes!
