  • O cypress tree! what doest thou here in this lonely desert spot? Alone and alien, what doest thou here? Where is the garden, the running water you seek? Are you awaiting the sprinkling rain? What if no rain comes? After the soft voice of the nightingale, what wouldst you do with the ghastly roar of agony? Dreaming softly of green pastures, what can you with this loneliness?

  • Conversation betwn strong wind and lonely tree. Analogy of sufferings of Baha'is of Iran at hands of fanatic oppressors. Wind unable to uproot belittles tree says his orchard and friends are gone, what is he doing in the wilderness awaiting drops of rain and hope for eternity? The wind (man) recounts trees reply: in love of the gardener we stand tall, deep rooted in the soil of love, don't trouble yourself you cannot uproot us. Not a lover-Majnoon do not belong in the house of the beloved-Layli

  • Pursuit of the Friend'

    The heart left,

and the Friend is (also) gone.

I don't know whether I should go after the Friend or after the heart!

A voice spoke to me: "Go in pursuit of the Friend, because the lover needs a heart in order to find union with the Friend. If there was no Friend, what would (the lover) do with (his) heart?" Sheikh Ansari -

  • The pain of the lost Friend is the strength to serve and love

  • Check Dr Ghadimi Dictionary, Sarv refers to section between lower level valley & upper stony part of mountain. Sarv has reached the middle of The Mountain, facing the hard stones (sokhreh samma) on the way up or on a return calling Sarvs across the world to climb up the Mountain of God. The word "Naz", refers to Iqan & check Guardian translation "art of love's way and "secret of heart-surrender. Two words took hours to get a glimpse. Translation!!

  • Thank you.

Sarv - literally, I believe is the cyprus tree. But am not sure. Do you know?

I left Iran when I was 12 years old - 32 years ago, and have not been back since.

  • I understand, I just tried to let you know the translation will need a lot of research. I wish you the best in your journey of discovering the hidden beauty in the words of the poem. The map of the journey of this beautiful cypress tree must be discovered by investigating the many meanings of each words and see a glimpse of light. Best wishes 95key

  • wonderfull, wonderfull

  • I have been listing to this song for over a year and do so almost every day. Although I only understand a few words, it is the finest music I have heard ever. Will someone please post the words in farsi text , as I can read it. Would love to have a translation as well. Are there any other songs from this duo on youtube?

  • I have made an attempt to translate this poem. As with all mystical imagery it is very difficult to do this elegantly, especially if you're not a poet in either language.

I will post what I have with appologies for its lack of elegance.

  • It is wondrful.

Would you please put more much

    of these beautiful poems.

  • Zohre jan,

Are you the friend of Siavash.S?

If you are the right one, I remember In tehran

You have a soothing voice. And a very pretty face.

God bless you and your family.

Do you have any other songs?/prayers?
