  • i got my plane for christmas and i only got to fly it once because of high wind it really suckc =(

  • I also have had it for around and a half years!!

  • I have one!! It flys like a simulator easy- great for beginners

  • i gt the red one and thx so much for the tip omn the packing tape and glue gun medic. :D

  • remember kids... always take off and land into the wind!

  • This is a great plane to learn with. I've had mine for a while and recommend it for anyone beginning... The packing tape is essential, good advice. The only problem I have had with this plane is that I keep breaking the motor mounts... not by crashing, they just break during normal flight... Perhaps my motor is not spinning straight anymore...

  • theese planes go forever.

Mine is already on its second motor and has literaly hundreds of flights on it.

The new motor was a whole 14$ or something like that.

  • how much did that cost???

  • im new to this plane to had first flight today not the best flight i hope for but a lil glue and im good and at 2:48 i seem to do that a lot

  • im new to this plane to had first flight today not the best flight i hope for but a lil glue and im good

  • thanks for the packing tape tip.....

  • Your controller (Tx) has a switch - ACT On or Off.

For permanent switch-off (recommended!), simply unplug the appropriate wires.

  • @renard801 it is not recommended fpr new pilots its best on for us

  • @MrSpideradam

NO, Spideradam! Although Hobbyzone recommends you to use ACT at first, if you read all the RC forums (especially Super Cub Club) you will see that the majority opinion is that it actually CAUSES more crashes than it prevents! ACT is nothing more than a sales gimmick by Hobbyzone. Go to the forums and search on ACT (or anti crash technology). Good luck with your flying, it's a great plane.

  • @renard801 I 100% agree. good advice Renard. I hope to see you at RCSparks sharing that info. :-)

  • @renard801 oh ok i just got my plane first rc one ever yesterday was first flight the act did help me from crashing the first time today was the second flight today and i hit a tree :(

  • can you take it of from the ground?

  • @uberguitargeek oh yeah, with ease. :)

  • do u really think u could land that

  • @12outdoorsmen well this is almost 3 years old... sooo. yes.

  • u cant land it in grass

  • @12outdoorsmen

You most definitely can land it in grass - assuming, of course, that the grass isn't too long. We do this on a normal playing field, all the time. Grass take-offs and landings are much easier if you upgrade your wheels to larger size.

  • Would this be a good starter plane?

  • @xxgg

Definitely. It is widely recommended as one of the best starter planes. Easy to fly and - equally important - easy to repair when (not if, when!!) you crash while learning. Also, parts are easy to acquire and relatively cheap.

  • dang I fail i crash landed every time damaged the cone.... man any advice for such a failure? I went into the wind on a not very windy day it moved my string a little but not much I would try an turn it with the joy stick and it would turn sharp and make a face plant i tried to slowly turn but still face plant i even let go of the gas for landing

  • you need class R airspace transmission to fly there (r is for RC) lol

  • Fly HIGHER!

    You might crash!

  • so many near misses

  • @harrier331 oh yeah bro.. this was when I was still learning.. well heck.. I guess we are always learning hey? This was some time ago though... Thanks for watching and commenting Harrier :)

  • I'm a beginner and I think of buying this model and i want to ask if its better to buy first a simulator and then the plane or the simulator doesn't do much?

  • I'm thinking of getting this plane. How is it in the wind?

  • Great video. The HobbyZone Super Cub is the king of all starter planes. Also, upgrade the wheels with 3" wheels if you are not going to use a paved road to land on.

  • Great video. The HobbyZone Super Cub is the king of all starter planes.

  • Funny wid, i also taped my cub on the wings and upgraded it to lipo with a e flite propeller. Have a cessna to and my wideos are from the cessna in Norway , You can see it on my account and on the top i play a Bach Allemanda to on my woilin hehe. Rc and Bach, thats funny:)

  • packing tape= more weight, more weight=easier to stall :D

  • dude i know how to land these things a lot better than you are

all you gotta do is when you r comin in for the landin speed up but use the elevator to bring it down when you start rolling bring the throttle dwn to 0

  • this plane is great for bigginers

  • no its a good plane i have it but he is flying in toooooooooo much wind but good plane

  • @Ericmarc1 there was barely any wind that day.. maybe 5kph... and this plane has an upgraded motor in it. Its 3 times as fast as stock...

  • Um, is that really the best spot you can find to fly? Besides the lack of a single level surface to land on, and the wind over the top of the hill, that's a REAL international airport just behind those houses, isn't it???

  • @StigsCanadianCousin dude... you fly your rc's at an international airport.. ? I dont think so...

  • @djmedic2008 NOPE, but I think that's Calgary International just behind the townhouses. Isn't it?

  • @StigsCanadianCousin good eye.. it sure is Calgary Airport. nose hill is just simpler for me to fly.. been all over the city, have a few flyin' friends.. there are some great places to go. i like the challenge of this hill. Yeah it has some wind (depending) but also, the gullies, the landscape and the people are fun to chat with.

  • @djmedic2008 :-) the eye comes from being a full scale pilot - runways just seem to jump out of the scenery at me. :-)

I can see what you mean about the challenge - my R/C skills sure wouldn't be up to it!

    Happy flying!

  • i need alerions to fly

  • you rock

  • hey djmedic2008 i like to fly on nose hill too becouse of your video i got the super cub so thanks you have the best idea of puting packing tape on the wings i can help you land at pm hobies you can get baloon tiers and you can land beter on thick grass like nose hill

    thanks alot

  • good vid i relly like to gluid

  • i love this plane

  • i fly my plane on nose hill calgary

  • i got that plane yestrday and i put the packing tape over it and it dident breck think you!!!

  • Great idea putting packing tape on the cub . My cub had its left tip broken off on its maiden flight but next time i bolt on the spare wing, i'll definately stick that on there along with my St models cessna 182 which i'm just scared at breaking ! One question though . Does the packing tape affect the wing loading, trim or even the COG?

  • cool video dude nice work

  • you can also put tape over the wing where the rubber bands go. otherwise a crash can cause the bands to dig into the wing. when landing, i usually keep the throttle on just a tad.

  • does you engine give out whenever you fly it in mid air

  • unhook the A.C.T ( Anti crash technology) and your problem will go away my friend :-)

  • @djmedic2008 ....HOW TO UNHOOK A.C.T ?

  • @BLUESTREAK0777

Assuming you have the Hobbyzone Super Cub, there is a switch on the controller (Tx) marked ACT On / Off. Just switch off!

  • @biggie643 Well when ou're low on battery it automatically cuts out the engine to same power for the control services. It's actually quite easy to glide. Trim helps. Try reading the instruction manual...

  • Check out my video (above).. this is my Cub with a 9" prop on it and servo rods as wing struts, I found the plastic struts where for ever falling off and the wing often came close to snapping at high altitudes. The prop gives it a little more pull , which is better for doing stunts. Enjoy the video (taken on a sony ericsson phone with a 2 meg camera).. nice flying by the way :)

  • i have had not one good experince with mine always breaks everything possible to break broke even a servo arm???

  • a lot of wind to fly it

  • I wonder how long does its battery last????

  • Nice Airplane. I just got one for Christmas I can't wait to fly it. Good Video. You look like you have a lot of fun flying it. Merry Christmas!

  • A Merry Christmas to you my friend!! You will have a great time flying it.. make sure in very little wind.. and buy a glue gun... Hot glue will put it together if you dont use the packing tape first..

    have a ton o' fun!!!

  • that was not a good landing!!!

  • nice recovery at about 2:40

  • nice video, See the wind was a little high

  • hi DJmedic I found out that my brother is buying me this plane for xmas. It is the LP version. thanks for the advise re- packing tape..Do you need to cover the tail , rudder and elevators to? and what width packing tape to you recommend. thanks from gary

  • Thats great news Gary, and congratulations.. you will have a ton of fun with it!

The tape will add some strength and rigidity to the strofoam. I noticed while I was learniing ad did a tumble or two.. I was breaking tips of the wings.. or snapping the nose of the plane off. The tape stopped it from breaking off. Buy a glue gun and some glue to.. just in case - Suggested tape.. Something strong, but thin ;)

  • ok cool thanks. did you also cover the plastic nose with tape to? or just the stroform areas?

  • I did cover the nose... (cowling) and I taped it to the styrofoam.. so it wasnt separate

  • cool okay i will do that to. As I was not sure wether you needed to keep the cowling seperate to get at the hardwear. But I supoose you could always cut the tape later if needed. Thanks again im really excited about this plane

  • my pleasure, and good luck.. Hope to see it on Youtube in the new year =)

  • Gary, if from the sound of your name you are in the UK, your brother may like to know that he can get the Hobbyzone Super Cub LP on eBay for only £127.50 including courier delivery.

I bought one last week, it was next day delivery. Now I'm waiting for all this wind to die down so I can get out and fly it!

Good luck, and wish me luck too - I've never flown a RC plane before.

  • good luck with the wind and flying. have fun and let me know how the first flight went. my brother has already ordered it a little more expensive than ebay but to be honest i would rather him buy from a model shop with good aftersales service. it was a good deal anyway...130.00 and free delivery

  • Good luck bro! Have fun! I did do have a video called "Medic First Flight" it was with the cub (brushed version) on a windy day.. it also shows why you should pre-tape.. the end didnt "end well" .. Lol

    have fun bro!

  • lol yeah i saw that video. It was kind of funny....Sorry that you damaged the plane though. Well at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that I have learned from your mistake and will be taping pre first flight. You look like Jenson button from a distance. You know the British Formula 1 champion. I looked at yiour other videos..you have some cool rc cars and good advise

  • WHERE DID U BUY THE PLANES?

  • Just go the the store link in the info box ..>>>

  • Super

  • Love my CUBBIE!!!!

    what a great plane.

    cool vid !!!

  • What editing program do you use?

  • At least he caught the plane...We all know he can't catch any fish!

    Awesome Job!!!

  • *Mental note * Never let your best friend have access to your videos... lol

  • Awesome vid, great flight ! - 5*'s

  • is it lipo and brushless? and also did you modify? my super cub is sooo slow

  • no.. no mods.. this is just the 3s lipo version of the cub... just a few $ more.. than the regular cub.

  • nice flying.

  • o! this is a WAAAAY better launch than the mustang!! hahaha...wow, really windy huh? now you mentioned "packing tape" where would you find that at the post office? or home depot???

  • Lol.. a few feet further I would say...

As for the tape. should cost about $3.00 and you will find it at any local hardware store. Something thin.. but strong.... It only adds maybe 1/2 oz of weight.. so i dont even notice the diff... but the plane holds together great.. and has a smooth surface on the wings.. so it glides great!

  • dang.... windy huh? you should try to make it land on a road or something it would be like an airport :)

  • Now I really want one of these.. Loks like so much fun to fly it around.

  • great tips looks life fun =) i had a gas 200$ rc car.. i crashed it horribly and i havnt fixed it.
